Yep they are but he refused to even consider that he gained any performance help from whatever he was on.

By the late 90s, he was jacked and blasting HRs nearly 600 ft. He was always a power guy but he had to get at least some help.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that steroids are used only to gain muscle mass. Steroids are used just as much, if not more, to recover from injury.

Thats wonderful, but its still cheating. They also allow your muscles to recover quicker allowing you to work out more often and get stronger. Getting stronger definitely will help with home runs. It can turn deep pop flies and doubles into homers.

Agreed that it's cheating. Agreed that steroids can help increase strength. I was just pointing out that a lot of ball players also use steroids to increase recovery time. My guess is more use steroids to increase recovery time as opposed to increase strength.

how's he lying? lol he's admitted to HGH, taking it as early as 89, 93 after missing tons of games, 98...i mean he was a heavy roid user and he's telling us that...don't see much lying there.

By lying I meant in relation to whether he believes his usage helped his baseball game. He said it did not. Whether he truly believes it or not, only he knows.

I think he may be lying about never telling his wife. If you use steroids as much as he apparently did, how in the world does your wife not know?

If someone came to me tomorrow and said "Dave, your skills aren't bad ... with steroids, you could make $20 million a year."

McGwire, Clemens and all those fags did what they had to do to get paid.

Without steroids, McGwire is an injury-prone washout whose career never would have lasted until that HR record.

Without steroids, Clemens flames out in Toronto ... he was clearly done after Boston.

I am not necessarily saying what they did was right, but they did it to get paid ... it hurt no one but themselves, a few baseball stat geeks and some kids who really needed different heroes anyway.

Well, he did his interview with Costas.

Main points...

-He does not think doing steroids helped his performance at all. Credited his great genetics and hand/eye coordination for all his baseball gifts.

-Did not remember any specific names of what steroids he did.

-Never told anyone of his use, not even his wife, father or LaRussa.

-Admitted to using HGH once and never again.

-Said he used steroids b/c of his injuries and to get back on the field.


Somehow, I think he's either lying, honesty does not remember or convinced himself of what he thinks the truth is.

The roid users hurt all the players who remained clean. Roid users prolonged their careers and took roster spots away from the clean guys.

Not to mention, all the dumbass kids who see their sports heroes as drug freaks and may have sampled the stuff.
