Questionable instincts and awareness --- Poor ball skills --- Average hands --- Not a reliable tackler --- Takes some bad angles --- Doesn't always play as fast as he times --- Will have trouble matching up with wideouts in man coverage --- Plays too tall at times --- Struggles in space --- Too often gets preoccupied with delivering the knockout blow.

That sums it up well... he was primarily a deep safety for USC and they played a lot of cover 3 and cover 1 when I watched them, and he got overaggressive and left holes in the secondary that opposing QB's exploited.
 
Mays is a lot like Roy Williams the safety but I think he has more upside. If he's willing to put in the work, he could be a dominant force in any secondary
 
Overall Mays doesn't have the hips to play safety in the league IMO, but he's not that sound of a tackler technique wise to play LB in my opinion. He has great straight line speed but he's not the quick-twitch type of player that would excell in pass coverage at safety.
 
lol at Jimmy Clausen going to the Bills, I don't think he's going to be much of a NFL QB. Also I don't see Joe Haden being a good fit for the Clowns, but we will see. Thanks for posting this, I'm not an insider and I really wanted to see this.
 
Mays has the problem that a few of the USC players started to get. He goes for the big hit way too much.

He's not the playmaker defender that you would want at FS. He's probably going to get moved to SS.

Reminds me of Roy Williams.

How is Haden not a good fit for Cleveland?

He'd be a good corner to put up there with Wright.
 
I would love if Mays fell to the Steelers and we picked him up to replace Ryan Clark, but its probably not going to happen, but i personally like him. I know he doesn't fit an immediate need, and he has some problems, but I think with Troy in our secondary, Mays' would really make him a better player. I really don't want the Steelers to draft an o-linemen in the first round because personally I don't think the o-line was extremely bad and we could use the pick for a different need and use our second to pick a lineman.

Our line has been garbage the last couple years. We need o-line help and we need it now. I personally like Vladimir Ducasse 6'5 330 lbs guard that could be the next Larry Allan :2thumbs: Ok that's very hopefull but the kid is really good and I think he's draftable at 18 and we've missed the presence of a powerhouse guard since Faneca left town.

Personally I don't feel Ducasse is a 1st round pick. Early second maybe but to take him at 18 would be a waste
