is there any info on the online league yet? they didnt even allow u to select the winner in a simmed game....thats a basic function so i hope they fixed that along with many many other things

They eventually added this. Commissioner could resolve games and choose a winner.

They made great improvements on the online leagues over the course of the year. Only issues by the end were frozen leagues that couldnt advance. Sometimes they were able to fix it, other times not.

W2B... we know who will and won't stick around, shit I was horrible at the game and still enjoy it up to this day (played yesterday for a while)I say 12 team MAX for a league. After the first season is complete than take on the other guys that you aren't so sure about if they are still playing.

Also I'd really like to see an actual online franchise type deal instead of just a play games league. That will keep people around the idea of continuing to make their team better etc, and then even if a few drop out it wouldn't completely cripple the league, there would still be plenty to do.

That'd be a hell of an idea.

22 games is still a joke, when ull play more almost as many playoff games if you go to the world series, lol and play every series out fully....

i think we did 3-3-5 for our playoff format. so thats 11 plus 22....33 total games is alot of games. u gotta have a dedicated group to do that. i just dont think its possible on vsn...not for baseball. Even on MM it never worked

this game is so badass to play offline that i played a full 162 plus playoffs offline for the 2010 game

22 games is still a joke, when ull play more almost as many playoff games if you go to the world series, lol and play every series out fully....

I was in both leagues last year, and while you guys may have "played" a long 40+ game schedule, at the end you ended up awarding auto wins in at least 25% of the games due to dropped owners and slow pace. So clearly the schedule should have been shorter.

thats what i mean when i say people talk a good game. sure 30 guys with 40 games would be nice....but its not reality. 16 owners and 20-25 games is the answer

I don't think the goal is to sim any games, but being able to set and size/length because simming is an option, is a positive for whatever we decide to do.


As long as those with commish power (please dear god allow more than ONE!) then simming could ultimately NEVER happen.

Someone can't be available? Ok, boot, opponent plays CPU, and the league doesn't flinch.


Because of these factors, I'm more partial to the longer season because I prefer having mini-series vs your opponents, multiple ones, I'm not in a rush to finish it.

It really doesn't matter if half the guys who start this league flake, if this league comes down to the 6 or so guys who we know won't quit, because you can always progress and play your games now that CPU is enabled. I personally have no problem with that.

So having said that, length is ultimately up to us, but shouldn't be viewed as a "concern" that may destroy the league because it no longer can from the sounds of it.


Personally, my ideal VSN baseball season would look like this.

March - 4 Week long Release Day roster tournament.
April, May, June - 30 Team, 10 Week long reg season (3-4 games a week), with 2 week long playoffs (using opening day or whatever rosters we like)
July, August, September - Same as above.


Again, just my preference. I wouldn't care if it was just 6-10 humans and the rest CPU, lot easier when you don't have to match up with a human every time for scheduling.

I would prefer to never play the CPU, but all of this is wild specultion until we know how it works.

I still say the TGS 30 team would have finished, minus the site drama. But I don't think id be in favor of trying it again.

I also think the SCEA leagues are a better option than LD. People HATE entering stats, plus scea let's you have transactions, making it a "living " league. Plus, you could easily do a "dynasty" by just redoing all of the transactions at the start of a second season.

The other advantage to scea leagues is injuries carry over, and fatigue. No more remembering rotations, have to be smarter with the bullpen, can't use same catcher every game, etc.

if sonys leagues work then its a must over LD. i agree about never playing the cpu in an online league. i could see simming results in 1 guys favor if need be but not having actual games scheduled against the cpu. who know what kind of cheese might go on

I hope the SCEA leagues is what is decided upon for all the reasons you listed above. It's much easier to have the league all in one place and in game, rather than needing to visit a 2nd website just to see league information. All the additional stuff like Hot/Cold streaks and what not are pretty cool.

The Dynasty concept can definitely work, but if all clubs aren't involved doesn't that kind of bork things a bit? Teams, players, etc....being left out kind of throw things off a bit IMO. I'm also doubtful of there being a minor league system with this and most of baseball wheeling and dealing involve players for picks. Building a baseball franchise requires the minors, wouldn't you agree? Should be interesting to come up with a system once we know more. This concept opens up a slew of more things to consider, as what I learned with Turducken is if you are to go to the trouble of doing a "Dynasty", you need to have a goal of multiple seasons or it's just pointless. There's no fear of making moves with the future in mind when the future isn't going to exist. It completely skews the mindset of "playing GM realistically".

One thing when it comes to VS CPU play would be to compare to NCAA OD's. Would they be as much fun if there was only 12 teams involved instead of 120? Would the league flow as well if 100% of games were vs Human? One thing for sure is things move slower if all games are vs Human and sims are a must because life gets in the way no matter what. If someone flakes and nobody is around to sub or replace, then you have a situation instead of just flipping the CPU switch and moving right along.

There's definite pros/cons to how this is all setup, situations where the league could have issues and situations where they aren't possible, etc. Once more details on the mode drop, we'll have to decide which facets of an online league are most important and then set up the league based upon that.

I certainly prefer playing Human games than CPU, absolutely, but I'd prefer CPU games than sims, I fucking hate sims, and sims are a just about a guarantee in all human leagues.

In the current MLB THE SHOW league setup, you are given the entire 40 man roster, minus the fakes, you decide your 25 man active roster. The rest are your minors. You can do call ups, and there is a DL and free agent list. I assume it will be the same this year.

Are you sure it's that way? I thought I read you could use whatever roster you wanted.

I don't know, I screwed around with plenty of online leagues in 2010, and it always imports the most current roster. If you can use a different one, I don't know you would go about doing it. There is no point in the league setup process where they give you a choice to change.

Maybe this is something new for this year.

Houtz killed TGS, and W2B tried to bring the league back to life but it was never going to work out. Hopefully we can get a solid core of people and have a good league for 2011.

leagues used the most recent online update when u started your league. once you started your league the roster was set for that league....no changes with future updates.

but then from that roster you did have 40 mans, trades, all that jazz. they may have changed it at some point.....but during the first month or 2 this was the way it worked.
