Denorfia's 2-Run Homer In 8th Proves To Be Game-Winner

Game Story
Today's game was a sweet one for the A's, as they were able to get revenge on the Giants after losing 8 to 0 in the first game. The A's pulled out the close victory in today's game, 4 to 3. Dana Eveland was on the mound for the A's, while Billy Sadler was on the mound for the Giants. Eveland was cruising through Giants hitters, as they could only get 1 hit off of him in the first 6 innings of play. Meanwhile, Billy Sadler was being hit around. In his start, the A's got 10 hits off of him with 2 runs. The first A's run came in the 2nd inning, which was a Kurt Suzuki homer into the bay area. The A's were able to get another run in the 4th inning. Kurt Suzuki got a sacrifice hit, which allowed Nomar Garciaparra to score from 3rd. The A's then stayed scoreless until the 8th inning.

The Giants were able to get only 3 runs in the entire game; all 3 of the runs came in the 7th inning off of Dana Eveland. Delmon Young led off the inning against Dana Eveland and he grounded out to shortstop. Aaron Rowand then singled; Pablo Sandoval stepped up to the plate and he delivered a double, which scored Aaron Rowand all the way from first base. Dallas McPherson was the batter after Sandoval and he was able to scrap out a walk. Travis Ishikawa then doubled, which scored Pablo Sandoval from 2nd base and Dallas McPherson from first. Jesus Guzman was intentionally walked, Eugenio Velez got a single, but the Giants weren't able to get any more runs in the inning. Although, they were up 3 to 2 going into the 8th inning. The Giants pulled Billy Sadler after the 7th inning and put in Merkin Valdez. Valdez entered the game in the 8th and gave up a leadoff single to Jason Giambi. After Nomar Garciaparra flied out, Chris Denorfia hit a 2-run homer that put the A's on top 4 to 3. Gio Gonzalez and Michael Wuertz were able to shut down the Giants batters in the 8th and 9th innings to close out the victory for the A's.

Yeah man. The thing is the pitch wasn't even great. I hung a curveball up in the zone and he just made solid contact with it and drove it out of the park. I wasn't really surprised, but I was also pissed that I gave up the lead.

A's Win 6 To 4 Behind Holliday's Grand Slam

Game Story
Today's rubber game between the A's and the Giatns was a good one. It was just like the last game, where both teams fought it out the entire game and it was close. The A's escaped San Francisco with a narrow win against the Giants 6 to 4. Trevor Cahill was on the mound for the A's, while Barry Zito looked to win against his former team. Cahill pitched much better than Barry Zito did. Zito allowed 10 hits, but he only really made one mistake, which was a grand slam that he allowed to Matt Holliday in the 5th inning.

Trevor Cahill allowed runs in the 2nd and 4th. Travis Ishikawa homered in the 2nd inning off of Cahill. In the 4th, Pablo Sandoval homered off of Cahill and later in the inning, Jesus Guzman drove in Travis Ishikawa with an RBI single. The Giants were up 3 to 0 going into the top of the 5th inning. This is the inning where Zito faced trouble. Zito allowed singles to the first three hitters he faced. None were able to score, though. Matt Holliday took the plate with the bases loaded and no outs. Zito fired in a two-seam fastball in Holliday's wheelhouse and Holliday smacked the pitch into the left-field stands for his 6th homer of the season. That put the A's on top 4 to 3. The A's tacked on another run in the 7th and 9th innings off of Osiris Matos and Jeremy Affeldt. The Giants were only able to get a run in the 8th as Pablo Sandoval singled home Edgar Renteria. The Giants just came up short against the A's, as they lost the game and the series.

Bengie Molina expressed his discontent yesterday about his playing time. He has become everso impatient as he's been benched for the past week.

Molina: "I feel as though I've been betrayed. I've been in the majors so many years and I haven't ever been benched without notice. This move makes me want to leave San Francisco and leave soon. If I'm not out of here within the next two weeks, then there will be serious problems."

Giants manager Bruce Bochy heard Bengie's comments and he said the following.

Bochy: "Bengie is a good guy, but it looks like his time here with the Giants is done. We got Buster [Posey] in AAA right now and we got Pablo [Sandoval] playing catcher right now for the time being. When Posey is ready, Sandoval will move back to 3rd base. Molina should get his wish of leaving San Francisco. That's all I gotta say about that."

A move is expected by the Giants within the next two weeks. Don't be surprised if the Giants go grab some depth at the 3rd base position. Brandon Inge has been on the block since the beginning of the season and Eric Chavez has been quite inconsistent this year and there have been rumors that the A's are looking to deal him.
