I give credit to the Nats for doing some house cleaning. A lot of times teams wait too long.

Rodriguez will get a million chances to prove he can pitch since he throws 100mph. This could be the end of the line for Duke, the BIG TIM Pirates prospect who couldn't strike out guys in the minors but was somehow highly touted.

Baseball originated as a gentleman's game, similar to how golf evolved. So that stuff has gotten passed down generation to generation. Sass was not to be tolerated, but oddly the history of cheating in the game is rich and usually done with a wink & a nod. Cheating is "gamesmanship", but showing up the opponent has never been acceptable.

There is plenty of shit in the modern game that would get you beaned as little as 40 years ago. It's loosened up.

They waited too long on Espinosa and Dukes, IMO. Within a week of his broken wrist, it was obvious Espinosa couldn't hit.

Espinosa should have been DL'd weeks ago. I wouldn't mind for the Orioles taking a shot with Rodriguez, but my guess is that someone much lower on the waiver list takes a chance on him. Duke is likely done for now I imagine some team close to the playoff race picks him up, hoping they could get some production out of him in the summer- maybe long relief for a bit, spot start, but that's it. I wouldn't give him that shot though.

Me too. Pitchers should feel free to slap their chests or fist pump or whatever after big strikeouts, etc. Give it right back to the batters - everyone has fun, everyone gets humbled once in a while.

Really great to see how Julio Teheran has progressed this season. After four starts his ERA was 5.04, eight starts later he's down to 3.30. Over those starts (55 IP) he's posted a 2.13 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 43/8 K/BB.
