The PS3 servers are so frustrating.

When they work they are really smooth.

When they don't and the server goes down,,,,it goes down for HOURS, it was down for a day+ a few weeks ago. So frustrating.

And....the PS3 servers do down again...lol. It's like clock work on the weekends or a holiday, they always go down right around 12 noon.

So since I accidently deleted my original MyPlayer guy I've been trying to start a new one with the new rosters from Operation Sports. I've got them downloaded, and tried starting the My Player mode and the rookies aren't there in the Showcase. So I tried 3 different times and still they never showed up. I tried a 4th time with the 2k share rosters saved under a Roster file instead of a 2k share file and still no dice. What da fuck? Has anybody else tried this yet?

myplayer goes with generic rookies, and not only that, they dont actually get drafted, so your first season all the teams that are bad stay bad. by the third season, the league is upside down really after they get some real draft picks.

unrelated: I started my PG finally, and i've figured out a really simple way to get tons of assists. you just call an isolation play. that spaces guys out around the hoop. then you drive for the basket. most of the time, this causes a second defender to slide over your way, leaving one of your teammates wide open, which you then pass it to him and most of the time he takes the shot immediately giving you the assist. if the second defender doesnt commit, just take the ball to the hoop yourself for a high percentage interior shot - helps if you have high layup, but standing jumpers in close are high percentage even if you have low shooting abilities.

so, since the Packers lost + I got a new job where I'm busy as fuck, what free time I got I have been pouring into 2k12.

my PG plays for Sacramento, which I love, because I was never really a Laker guy, and I remember watching the Vlade Divac/Christ Webber/Peja Stojakavic teams. I played probably 20 rookie showcases to get myself drafted higher than 8, which nobody other than PRIMETIME on this site said was even possible. 7 to the Kings.

I really love being the guy that sets up the play, even if i miss, I still make it happen. I love calling plays (they rotate alot ; ive come to the conclusion that knowing the plays is irrelevent ; what matters most is reading how it plays out and passing to the open man) and even though my team is 6-13 right now, I give my best, I play a well rounded game and I do everything I can to help it win.

I am closer to video game DeMarcus Cousins than I am some members of my family. that dude buries midrange like a motherfucker. it's a blast, and all you need to be willing to do is hit shoulder, pick a play (PLAYBOOKosition (IE 3, 2, 1, whatever), PLAYTYPE (pick, iso, etc) and run it and make the best decision.

I have played 140 hours of 2k12 and my PG is my second renaissance. its amazingly fun, and it isnt as hard as i thought.

I'm only about 25 games into my player and it's great. I demanded a trade to the Lakers, because the Suns suck, and I got it. Only problem was the trade itself. The Suns traded Grant Hill and me for Andrew Bynum. If I knew the trade was gonna be that lopsided I would of never asked for one.

i had the same issue with my sg. i demanded a trade to jersey so id have a real pg to play with... and they traded deron williams for me. not only that, but i was a starter in milwaukee and spent about 30 games coming off the bench for anthony morrow.

fuck jordan farmar. also, fuck jj hickson, theres a reason they leave him open on every play, motherfucker cant hit a jumpshot for shit.

Ok so Diivox posts made me start up "My Player". I've never done any of these type of player creation modes in any sports games. I just basically play sport games vs. my buddies and that's it.

It is really fun and pretty addicting. I tell myself I'm gonna play a quick game and then end up playing like 3. I'm pretty game at this game playing games vs friends, I'm not very good at all with MY PLayer. I'm real bad. But it makes it fun. I'm still at 63 overall after a few weeks, trying to save up those skill points. Just staying around a C+ grade through the game is tough for me right now...lol. I'm a SG and try to contribute a little bit of everything.

Call for double teams on the perimeter all game and drive and dish to cutting big men.

It's cheesy as hell. And I lost a lot of games that first season because of my help defender getting killed.

Having said that.. The 1000 SP bonus for an A+ grade is a lot more helpful than the 100 SP win bonus when you're starting out and by the end of the season I had gone from a 62 OVR to 79 OVR and could get the A+ grade without the double team help and we closed the season on a roll.

Now I'm averaging 70+ ppg and 10+ apg and the Utah Jazz are the number one seed in the West. I'm the most popular non-Mormon in Utah since... Well, maybe ever.

Ya I'm just starting out in the first few weeks of My Player. Think the Mavs (the team I'm on) are 4-2. Dirk went down with an injury and we have been struggling since.

My buddy is also doing the my player mode as well, and after work today we play basketball every Friday. We were yelling out point totals based on are performance of the plays as we were playing and the other guys kept looking at us like what the hell are these guys saying?? It was pretty funny. I excessively call for the ball in real life too...lol.

hate to sound so noob... but what do you mean call for double team on the defender? how do you do that? I run ISO's by tapping right on the directional pad and then tapping A, it spreads the floor, and I just pass to the open guy. it's fine if DeMarcus cousins comes free, cuz he can bury a midrange, but JJ Hickson can't hit a jumpshot for shit and passing over my shoulder to open perimeter guys is dangerous. I hardly ever dish to guys near the hoop and would love to setup some Lob City action.

I play on PC but I use an xbox controller.

I would be interested in learning how to do this because I just spent an exhaustive amount of time editing the rosters because 2K never released an update on the PC and I am probably going to start my PG over, so I might as well get it right from the start.

It was fine for me yesterday afternoon but I haven't played since and won't have a chance to until later tonight because I'm going to go take in some HS basketball... the only affordable basketball to watch in southern CA these days.

Mine worked last week. Now it won;t load. People at OS have had issues all week.

Had the exact same problem last night. Only way it worked for me was to delete ALL of your 2k saves AND the 2k game data (including the 2k additional game data which is separate from the game data...pretty much the patch) then it worked fine. Luckily enough for me I hadn't really gotten into it too much and intended on start my Association last night (which I still did after completely reinstalling it again) and now it works no probs. *knock on wood*

Still sucks for you guys though that have been playing your associations/my players for awhile. What I would do first is just delete the game data itself and keep your saves and just reinstall it and see if it works that way. If not you're gonna have to delete your saves as well.

I'm experiencing alot of slow down during games with MY PLayer. It's weird. Doesn't play smooth at all some times. Anyone experience this for the ps3?

Mine is working fine. Clearly 2K has allocated the servers to accommodate me.

I was referring to "My Player" offline.

My games online have been all lag free. Probably the best experience online playing a sports game.

BUT that's when the servers are actually working. There was a stretch in Jan. on the Ps3 were the servers were down at least once a week.
