I'm the same way and I'm not even a gamer anymore. I will buy MLB The Show just because I always do. I will regret it's not as fun as RBI 4, but will still play it.
That said, my 360 and PS3 are awesome at Netflix, Blu-Rays and DVDs ... oh, and new release sports games.

Ya it hasn't been working correctly. No start button for me and my friends either on the PS3. From Saturday until last night, my friends and I couldn't get a game in. NBA Today update and synch failed upon loading the game at start up. We thought that was the culprit.

Same thing happaned last night upon game load, loading screen, NBA Today update failed, HOWEVER, we did get the start button to appear in the locker room.
 
I believe it has to do with connection issues. When we play team up, it won't let us start when Kuzzy joins sometimes. Just a matter of finding a good host and getting lucky.

Man 2k really needs to update their damn online servers...it's been a while already since the game came out and nothing really changed online.

Btw, I think Superstar difficulty and up is bullsh*t. I can't get much calls my way or shots even, especially in the second half. It's like they make everything and i miss everything and they pull away to win the game. It's so stupid ugh. I'm trying to drive in more now instead of settling for 3s but they don't call any fouls, but then they call weak ass fouls against me.

A good set of sliders will help alleviate some of that. But the CPU will always do some wack shit on the higher levels.

I run a pick & roll, inside-out offense(with the Knicks) instead of just launching Js.

Man, sometimes I just love nab 2k12. Started a franchise as the Raptors, pulled off a couple of trades to get my lineup to look like this. Steve Nash, Kevin Martin, Danilo Galo, Andrea Bargs, Marcin Gortat.

I was fucking around, but somehow we managed to get into the playoffs. 6th seed. Fuck, playing Miami first. Double fuck. But apparently after game 1 (which we got crushed), Wade got a torn mcl and was out for some months. We then won 4 straight. 2nd round, apparently the Pacers upset the Celtics. We sweep them. Eastern Finals and we're playing the Hawks, who were the 1 seed. Smith goes down in the 3rd game, allowing us to win the series 4-1.

At this point, we're in the finals. I know we're fucked. Durant fucked us during the season, this should have been no different. BUT, Ibaka went down with a sore back or something that allowed Bargs to just go insane. He averaged near 30 points in the series. We ended up fucking okc up 4-1. Bargs wins playoffs MVP.

The stars aligned in Toronto. Steve Nash wins his first and only championship, while Galo and Bargs justify the 20 million the 2 of them combined will make the very next year. All it took was key injuries in 3 out of the 4 rounds.

Picked this up and played it last night for the first time in a while. Beat the Celtics 92-83 as the Bulls. Rose had 22pts/5ast/2steals. Gerald Green turned in 15 points off the bench. Deng played like poop.

I'm about 13 days from the trade deadline sitting in 2nd in the East 2.5 back of the Heat.

My lineup looks like this: *Red denotes reserve*

Rose/Watson/LucasIII
Hamilton/Brewer/Korver
Deng/Gerald Green/Jimmy Butler
Boozer/Gibson/Scalabrine
Noah/Asik

Not really sure of any trades I want to make. I already have my eye on a few possible fre agents for after the season and I'm scouting the hell out of SF's and SG's. The only center I have a ton of interest in the draft is Meyers Leonard. Trying to decide if I want to move some picks and a player to move up in the draft to get him or stay put and get roster fillers like Tim Abromitis, Darius Miller from Kentucky, etc late in the 1st round.
 
Wanted to get back into this game so bad but simulated through to the end of a season and into the next and the CPU fucks the rotations up all to hell in year 2. Some teams have the starters playing 48 minutes a night etc. Just stupid. Gonna trade this in for something. Not sure what. Might put it towards NCAA13 if I feel like getting that over the summer.
 
One thing I found as the game went on is players don't regress as much as they improve.

I was in Year 2018 (I sim regular season play the playoffs), contracts were out of wack to the point where I couldn't resign Derrick Rose because there wasn't enough cap space, but no other team had enough free space to sign him either so he ended up as a FA.
