Crawford To Sit With Bruised Hip

Jamal Crawford left the Pacers previous game against the Toronto Raptors in the 3rd quarter after coming down hard on his right side after drawing contact with Chris Bosh on a layup attempt.

Crawford describes the bruised hip as a minor ailment that shouldn't keep him sidelined for long.

"I'll just miss about a week, just trying to calm it down, just because it's affecting the way I move a little bit and jump and stuff like that," Crawford said. "So that's basically it. It's nothing to be worried about. It's just a precautionary thing. Obviously, I would like to play and the team would like for me to play, but it's the best-case scenario right now."

Crawford has averaged 17 points and 6 assists in 11 games since being acquired this offseason from Golden State.

Chris Quinn will get the starting nod in Crawford's absence with Marquis Daniels also likely to see time at the point. Wingman Gerald Green should also see an increase in playing time over the next couple of games while Crawford nurses the hip back to 100%.​

Pacers Tempers Flare As Blazers Cruise

Indiana Pacers big men Chris Kaman and Tyler Hansbrough were caught shouting at one another on the bench in the 3rd quarter as the Blazers went on to send the Pacers to their 3rd loss in their last 5 games.

The Blazers got out in front early and never looked back, handing the Pacers to a 15 point loss, their biggest of the 2009/2010 season.

Recent rebounding woes seem to be the reason for the Pacers latest string of losses. It doesn't help that Pacers guard Jamal Crawford is sidelined with a bruised hip either.

"He's leaving me out there to dry. Yeah, he's pulled down more boards in the last couple of games, but I'm forced to box out 2 guys on some occasions while he goes up and grabs the rebound," explained Kaman in a heated post-game interview. "Stop worrying about your personal stats and do what you have to do to help the team win. That's the bottom line and that's the point I was trying to get across to him."

What is most comical about this situation, is that almost immediately after the altercation between Kaman and Hansbrough occured, rumors started swirling that Indiana may be interested in moving Hansbrough to make room to start 3rd year PF/C Sean Williams. While nothing is confirmed at this point, the teams involved in those same rumors included the Bulls (who are still interested in unloading Joakim Noah), the Rockets (who are currently bottom feeding in the West and appear to be shifting into rebuilding mode after trading away Luis Scola) and the Raptors (who are stockpiling young talent and setting up for a possible departure from Chris Bosh in 2010.)

"Tempers will always flare up a bit when you lose," Pacers Head Coach Jim O' Brien said. "Noone likes to lose. Hopefully, we can move on from this and improve upon what needs to be improved upon. We busted out of the gates this season and played extremely well in our first couple of games. We know how good of a team we can be when we play together. It's just a matter of getting back to that."​
