Scouting Report: Brandon Jennings
Brandon Jennings is coming from over seas looking to play in the NBA.
Brandon Jennings, the young point guard who had committed to Arizona a year ago, but then decided to go overseas to play in Italy, has entered his name in to the 2009 NBA Draft.
Jennings possesses pure athleticism while having the ability to stay under control, a rare ability for athletic point guards. His skill, court-vision, ball-handling ability, quickness, work ethic, and confidence show that he has the potential to lead a team and become a great player in the league if given the opportunity.
Jennings has the ability to catch and shoot quite well, but his shooting percentages are fairly low, especially from three-point range. His old academic issues also have scouts questioning if he has the brains to make quick decisions that are necessary in the NBA. Jennings is also very offensively-minded, he seems to lack effort on the defensive side of the ball at times. His small frame and weak upper body can also pose a problem for some squads.
Despite the weaknesses, Jennings is still one of the top prospects in the draft, and he will most likely be taken in the top ten. He draws comparisons to former NBA point guard Kenny Anderson, although the bar is set much higher for Jennings then it was for Anderson.
