NFL Playoffs this weekend ...fun to watch ?

Me personally the N.O/SF ending was as atrocious as Ive seen since the infamous GB/Ari near 100 point game. The NYG/GB game was a strangely pitiful game to watch.
Normally this time of year you see some very nasty defense being played as Refs tend to be more lax. But what I saw is college level tackling mistakes , DBs with no ability to play coverage , and refs absolutely ass raping a defense by making some of the most blatantly poor calls in a PO game as Ive seen in years.

All in all it seems to me that if your pressure isnt getting to the QB you have no chance of stopping the pass. Then if the QB isnt hit in a precise rulebook manner the play will likely have a second chance to take place. This has been going on all year but its really magnified with all these "exciting" games that are just products of shitty defense being played.

Bottom line the No Defense League has just made everything way to NBA like. Theres just no reason it should be easier to score in the last 5 minutes than the previous 55.4th Q comebacks are marveled at because theyre supposed to be VERY difficult..not common place. No way GB with 101 drops should have been in that game with what the NYG were doing to them.

P.S must be great to be a TE. Noones allowed to jam you at the line..once the pass is completed you have guys 40 lbs lighter lowering there head and attempting shoulder tackles LULZ.

I agree the ending of the Saints-49ers game was horrendous football. Schefter was shilling for the league (of course) saying shit on twitter like "How can this game be topped? The weekend just started and already we have our best finish!" ...

Meh. it was exciting and it had some great football down the stretch. Reminded me a bit of the Steelers vs Cardinals Super Bowl. One team went up early on mistakes. Other team chipped back. Took lead late. Original leading team scores last.

It didn't strike me as a bad football game.

NO/SF game was awesome, IMO.

SF has one of the best tackling teams I've seen in a long time. They gave up a couple of huge plays but for the most part they made some great plays on Sproles, Graham, Pierre Thomas, Colston, etc. in the open field.

The Saints have one of the best offenses of all time. I don't care if the rules make it easier for them or not, that's a fact, and the 49ers D played really well despite giving up huge yardage and points.

The Houston/Baltimore game was really good, too. Both defenses played well, especially Houston's, I was impressed.

New England did exactly what I thought they would to the Broncos. That is what the Steelers were supposed to do but they let their brawns get in the way of their brains.

These next two matchups are both great. Both should be close games.

That could be true, but that doesn't equate to horrendous football. This is what football is about......beating your opponent or allowing them to beat themselves. Players and coaches aren't machines, so mistakes, missed tackles, poor play calls, etc will happen.

Well yeah, no two games are alike. In this case though I feel the missed tackles were inexcusable by teams trying to protect a lead, and at some point it just becomes comical when tight ends are exploding for 60 yard catches back to back to back.

Yes, but my point is that those types of plays happen in football....they are part of the game/sport. Sometimes teams just beat other teams with explosive plays. On the Graham touchdown the defenders just ran into each other trying to bring him down....and Whitner also just missed the tackle....that happens. I guess its just how you look at it, but I just don't see how horrendous football was being played.

Yeah I mean we are talking about one pretty much blown play of sorts by San Fran then Alex Smith firing accurate darts to get them back into the game...an awesome QB sweep call the drive before etc. The Niners missing a tackle on a TD pass doesn't negate some really nice football being played.

Good points. I'll stop being a Debbie Downer, as it was certainly an enjoyable viewing experience if I am judging it against all other things that I could have been doing at that time.

An unenjoyable football game is still pretty damn awesome.

Poor execution on defense.

98 version even with the Pack playing 7-8 guys back in coverage you see guys getting challenged down field. Even past the 5 yards you see alot more physical play.

Here you see guys getting free runs down the field. LBers for both 9ers and Saints barely lay a finger on guys they could easily have redirected or challenged but arent allowed to by todays rules. End result is easy catch and runs where the level of difficulty is on Pro level default sliders.

I really dont have issue with the scoring when its genius playcalling , simply out talenting the other guy , or guys just blowing there responsibilities. What Im seeing is defenses that can only play tough D in certain situations. Once things become pure pass happy time the rules dictate the end results more than the players IMO.

To and everyone celebrating the catch as Rice nowhere to be found except for one shoulder tap. Legend has it alot of people noticed him pouting and upset instead of celebratory in the locker room as well.

After the Saints scored I was like, "There is no way Alex Smith is going to drive this team back down the field......We talkin 'bout Alex Smith [Iverson voice]...This game is over!" Then I watched him throw darts down the field. I was really impressed by those throws as the defenders really couldn't do anything about them.

5 years ago Whitner probably splits Graham in half. It looked like he wasn't sure whether he should go for the hit or the ball because he didn't want to hit a defenseless receiver and that hesitation caused him to fuck up the play.

Isn't it against the rules to hit a defenseless receiver even if it's not helmet to helmet?
