NFL Playoffs this weekend ...fun to watch ?

Poor execution on defense.

I find it odd you say this given the fact that the first clip you showed was a player knocking the shit out of a Saints player.

Plus the Niners executed amazingly well all day on defense and made the Saints work for whatever they got. They basically fudged up 1 play. Complaining that coverage is softer now than in years past is kind of besides the point. Also the Saints defense played really well most of the game to given the positions they were put in. I think the Niners only had around 180 total yards midway through the 4th. Alex Smith threw some beautiful passes in the closing minutes. The Niners and Saints both executed well on offense.

You almost expect teams to go right down the field at will. I remember in the chat box, when Alex Smith scored, the prevailing thought among pretty much everyone was "2:00 is too much time for the Saints, they are scoring".

It wasn't that long ago that those types of comebacks were rare, and not always because of the time. Because defenses would actually stop you. Imagine that. Let;s face it, if the Saints had gotten the ball back, they would have scored again. You play against the clock now, not the defense.

98 version even with the Pack playing 7-8 guys back in coverage you see guys getting challenged down field. Even past the 5 yards you see alot more physical play.





Here you see guys getting free runs down the field. LBers for both 9ers and Saints barely lay a finger on guys they could easily have redirected or challenged but arent allowed to by todays rules. End result is easy catch and runs where the level of difficulty is on Pro level default sliders.



I really dont have issue with the scoring when its genius playcalling , simply out talenting the other guy , or guys just blowing there responsibilities. What Im seeing is defenses that can only play tough D in certain situations. Once things become pure pass happy time the rules dictate the end results more than the players IMO.

To and everyone celebrating the catch as Rice nowhere to be found except for one shoulder tap. Legend has it alot of people noticed him pouting and upset instead of celebratory in the locker room as well.

Meh, this sort of reminds me of the anti-NBA argument of, "back in the day, guys could do this and this, but Stern's new league is blah, blah, blah"

The way I see it is tha the league had changed, so teams and fans should just adjust, as it isn't going back to what it was. We can keep bringing up non-HD footage from yesteryear, but that isn't going to change anything. That NO/SF was a good game regardless.

It's odd seeing you bring up what bad football is and how easy 4th quarter comebacks are these days when you're a Tebow supporter.

I dont have clips of those drives alone. As I said already once things become pass only mode teams seem helpless.

When your timing cant be interrupted , and your WR cant be redirected its pretty easy to look laser accurate. Its adjusting your timing , and throwing to make the WR open that makes QBs great and QB/WR chemistry so important. Brees has that but lol at Smith having that. Its just pitch and catch.

Don't recall saying they'd win the Superbowl, but they clearly take advantage of the rules more than anyone else.

Also, oddly enough there were only 19 penalties called this past weekend in all four games combined. Baltimore and another team (can't remember who) were not penalized at all.

The refs seem to be letting them play more in the playoffs.
