NFL Playoffs this weekend ...fun to watch ?

I think its odd saying a team has good defense when they give up 435 passing yards.....?

He threw the ball 63 times. I'd hope he'd put up a lot of yardage.

His accuracy, yards/attempt, TD% were all lower than what he did in the regular season. Plus he got sacked four times and threw 2 INTs.

The 49ers had a good defensive perfomance relative to what you'd expect from Brees.

maybe lower but still telling and comparable. For all the regular season yards he got, it was very inefficient. He got alot in between the 20s but wasnt that great in the red zone. Rodgers threw a little less but got alot more for it all season long in comparison. All the record really means is they had to rely too heavily on passing

Since when is allowing 32 points a good defensive performance?

And im not impressed with the Giants defensive performance either, it was more about GB playing like shit, tons of drops & errant throws.

Me personally the N.O/SF ending was as atrocious as Ive seen since the infamous GB/Ari near 100 point game. The NYG/GB game was a strangely pitiful game to watch.
Normally this time of year you see some very nasty defense being played as Refs tend to be more lax. But what I saw is college level tackling mistakes , DBs with no ability to play coverage , and refs absolutely ass raping a defense by making some of the most blatantly poor calls in a PO game as Ive seen in years.

All in all it seems to me that if your pressure isnt getting to the QB you have no chance of stopping the pass. Then if the QB isnt hit in a precise rulebook manner the play will likely have a second chance to take place. This has been going on all year but its really magnified with all these "exciting" games that are just products of shitty defense being played.

Bottom line the No Defense League has just made everything way to NBA like. Theres just no reason it should be easier to score in the last 5 minutes than the previous 55.4th Q comebacks are marveled at because theyre supposed to be VERY difficult..not common place. No way GB with 101 drops should have been in that game with what the NYG were doing to them.

P.S must be great to be a TE. Noones allowed to jam you at the line..once the pass is completed you have guys 40 lbs lighter lowering there head and attempting shoulder tackles LULZ.

I agree with a lot of this, but I did enjoy the SF-NO game. The crowd was really into it, the game was exciting, and the Niners ended up winning.

I think we've just had some bad matchups in the playoffs this year, which has contributed to boring games. Also, I don't think the teams are as good this year and the coaching isn't as good.

The Ravens-Texans game is a perfect example of this. The Ravens are nearly unwatchable, and their defense isn't nearly as good as it has been in years past. They pretty much do nothing all game, but they capitalize on two Houston mistakes and hang on to win. John Harbaugh is one of the most overrated coaches in the NFL (great calls on that goal line stand), yet Gary Kubiak one ups him by allowing his punt returner to keep fielding punts with his facemask. Houston is missing arguably their two best players (Schaub and Williams), yet they still should have won the game with their 3rd string QB. After watching the crap game, there was no "uplifting feeling"...it was like "ok, thats done."

I am starting to lose interest in the NFL because it is starting to look like the NBA. Can no longer stand in-game celebrations (i.e. Finley pounds his helmet and runs down field after making a routine catch, then drops a pass on the next play), rules tailored to completely handcuff the defense (i.e. Giants penalized 15 yards for phantom contact to Rodgers' head) and televison commercials where a QB is miffed because someone stole his TD dance (Johnny Unitas didn't have a damn TD dance)! Please clean this up so we can concentrate on the real product, exciting, competitive football.

I was hoping that at some point he'd take the guy who had the big kick return, and let him replace Jacoby Jones as the punt returner. Guess it was out of the question though :dunno:

GB had the highest scoring offense in the league and the Giants held them to 15 points less than what they normally score. Outside of the KC game, another good defensive performance, Rodgers hasn't really looked that bad all year. Attribute it to what you want.
