To compare the Bears to the Beatles is kind of stupid, no? Since 1985 what have they done other than be consistently pathetic/mediocre? (Ignoring their recent Super Bowl loss as casually as you've written off Atlanta's, of course.)

To be fair the Bears were an elite team in the NFC for the rest of the 80's then tailed off through the 90's with the exception of 93-96 when they were average. The 2000's haven't been God awful. Playoffs in 2001, 2005, 2006, and this season.

The Green Bay analogy is interesting in one aspect as for all their historical success it revolved pretty much all around the 1930's the 1960's and two seasons in the Mid 1990's.

Much of the same could be said for the Bears. The the 30's and 40's and early 60's. The Bears were good in the 50's but could never break through.

It's honestly tough/impossible to find any team that has been good for every decade or so they have been around.

The Steelers were pretty much a pile of suck until the 70's

Green Bay was lost in the wilderness for the 70's and 80's. They stunk in the 50's and most of the 40's.

Dallas comes the closest as they've had some level of sustained success in each decade they have been around. The late 80's and early 1960's(when they were an expansion team) are really the only holes in the timeline.

It's an interestesting thought/idea/conversation though.

True. And I would never argue that the Falcons history was = to the Bears, but since I never said that, I don't get what the fuck Dave is talking about.

I know. I was just trying to turn the conversation to something actually interesting to discuss rather than Dave's pop culture references.

I am seeing a lot of Vikings fans on the interwebz feeling optimistic about Joe Webb. I think it's way premature to say he's the longterm answer. Either way, Minnesota needs to draft a quarterback in this draft.
