Word right now is that tOSU and Michigan will be in seperate divisions starting in 2011, and they will not play the final week of the regular season.

Fuck that shit. Have us be in seperate divisions fine, but The Game should be the last game of the year, no doubt in my mind. It's been the last regular season game for both teams since 1935 (Except for 1998 when Michigan played Hawaii after). We'll have the same kind of protected game that Alabama and Tennessee have, but there is no damn reason to move The Game to the middle or beginning of the season, keep it right where it belongs.

Don't fuck with The Game. College football is all about traditions, and rivalries, and your going to fuck with one of the greatest rivalries not just in CFB but in all of sports? Completely and utterly retarded.

Agreed. The main reason people want it this way is because it could set up a Michigan/OSU Big 10 Title game, which would draw crazy revenue. Fuck that. Tradition > Revenue.

It's a little late in the game for the Big Ten to be saying that, considering revenue was the sole motivation for adding a 12th team in the first place. That bell can't be unrung. Tradition takes a backseat to money in college football these days. Sad but true.

That said, I get why you would want them to not play in the final game anymore. Who would want to see Michigan and Ohio State play two games in two weeks? What if they split the games in back to back weeks? The team who lost the game that mattered more would be furious. They should really just put them in the same division, eliminating that problem altogether and giving even more importance to The Game.

Personally I don't give a shit about geographics. Put OSU/Michigan in one division, Nebraska/Penn State in the other, put one of the fringe first tier schools in each division (Iowa and Wisconsin), and then after that it really doesn't mtater.

I guess the SEC got lucky with the split, but I absolutely hate the ACC's non-geographical set up. I can never remember who the fuck is in which division.

Plus the divisions are set up so unevenly it's retarded. I hope the Big Ten doesn't fuck it up as bad as the ACC did. It's really not hard IMO, you do it geographically as best you can, and if there are any glaring inconsistencies, you work with them.

The SEC East was more dominant for a stretch, but it's more or less even year in and year out. Maybe we're just coincidentally aligned perfectly, but I still think a geographical model is the best way, because it at least makes sense.

You can't account for fluctuation of programs, making balancing the divisions a crap shoot, but you can account for proximity between schools which will never change. I don't know how even it would be, but I'd think an East/West split would make the most sense, or maybe even a North/South.

Nebraska, Penn St, and Iowa could make up the power trio in the South, and Michigan, tOSU and Wisconsin would make up the North elite. Put Illinois, Indiana and Purdue in the south and put Minnesota, Michigan St. and Northwestern in the North. Voila, even divisions.

I'll use 'em both interchangably, tOSU or OSU, really doesn't matter to me, one's the abbreviation for the official name of the school the other goes on the scoreboard.

Raiders WR Chaz Schilens is out indefinitely after having his troublesome knee scoped on Tuesday.
Scratch him off your cheatsheet and give Louis Murphy a nice bump; Schilens probably isn't going to play before midseason while also trying to get his twice-surgically repaired foot back into playing shape. We can't really say it's a blow to the Raiders' offense because Schilens has hardly played to this point in his three-year career. Murphy and Darrius Heyward-Bey will be the Opening Day starting wideouts. Zach Miller is a sleeper to lead all tight ends in targets.
