The pressure here in MTL will never allow our team to fall to the bottom of the barrel. If we go in to next season without major changes you can expect nothing less but a riot down town.

We will probably get rid of Gainey as GM and find a new one... Either way, new GM will have a lot of work to do.

Thing is, no matter how much the fans speak, it won't mean shit if the players don't care. Look at Price. The guy IMO needs to get out of Montreal. If I am him, I am demanding a trade because the city and team are going to ruin his career. The media and fans are so hard on him, yet you can't blame him all the time for the problems of a team that just plays horrible. Look how he reacted after he made that easy save against Boston. It is the Roy thing all over again.

You can riot and fire Gainey all you want, the problems will still be there for the new GM to fix. The problem with Montreal this year IMO is that they were so big on this '100 years' thing, that anything less then a Stanley Cup was not going to be acceptable to the fans and the city. The city of Toronto has been asking for a change for 41 years, and they still are not close to winning a cup. Montreal may not end up in the basement, but would you rather they make the playoffs every season and get swept straight, or blow up, get a good draft pick and rebuild an identity.

It is sad when the fan base has a better identity then the team does. It speaks a lot to the problems in Montreal.

Price is a good goalie though. He COULD be what Fluery is to the Penguins. Fluery was horrible the first couple years, mostly because the Penguins were still trash, and then he turned into the star goalie he is now.

When you look up and down Montreal's line up, they are a lot of the same type of player. No real depth on the team in terms of different roles. I love using Montreal in NHL 09 because they are fast, and I can snipe with them. Since you can hit with anyone in the game, it doesn't matter if they have a big tough guy. But in real life, they don't have that. Komisarek is not that type of player. He isn't the guy you send out there and ask for a big hit to get the team motivated. You have that player Laraque, but the guy hardly plays.

See when the idiots (fans) start calling the shots that's when a team is on the road to ruin. Sure, fire the GM and torpedo the goalie with superstar potential because they don't live up to ridiculous expectations, go ahead and jettison two of the people who got you to the top of the Eastern Conference just one year ago but don't expect any success ever whilst the benchmark is too high and a setback brings about a termination. That is what the difference is between Montreal and Toronto. Granted Toronto fans are pissed, they understand they are going through a rebuilding stage. Montreal fans could never go through a rebuilding stage because they want a winning team all the time. They alienate so many players and they don't give people a chance to grow. If I am Price, I want out of Montreal because I wouldn't want this city to ruin my career and any chance I have of being a starter somewhere else. I ask to be traded to a team like the Avs (they could use him) or leafs would be happy with him. I wouldn't want to play for a team where the fans are calling the shots. But sorry to say, most fans are really stupid.

Kind of funny since you were saying at one point in the season that it was "a privilege to watch them". It isn't like also the Ducks are a bad team. They got loads of talent that just didn't spark high in the regular season. This team could have easily been 4th or 5th in the West.

Flyers have been knocking on the door every game this series, Fleury stole Game 4. I wasn't surprised in the least that the Flyers extended the series, two evenly matched teams on skill but one needed it more on that particular night.

Guys like him and Oli Jokinen have some kind of bad fucking mojo or something. Sure they have world class hockey talent, but down the stretch and in the postseason their teams always turn into giant peices of shit.

The Calgary Flames were a much better hockey team before they acquired Jokinen, there is no doubt. Whether he's producing or not, the W's were more frequent without him.

Much like how the Sharks were a final four team, without Thornton. Or the Bruins were a one and done team, with him.

You're in denial - you don't think the pressure isn't JUST as intense in cities like Toronto or Vancouver. Habs fans need a reality check - this isn't 1976 any more and Sam Pollock isn't the GM. Those days are over.

The pressure isn't as intense in any other city... come on now. How can you compare MTL to Vancouver or Toronto? Sure they got a good fan base but have you seen ours? We are probably the most spoiled fan base in all of sports. Anything besides a Stanley Cup every year is considered a disappointment and might merit serious change-ups within the organization.

Personally, I would keep Gainey but he has to get over his man-crush on Price. He shows potential but he can use a few years on the bench while Halak tears it up.

The story is Montreal is no longer a destination of first choice for most NHL players. Montreal tried two years ago to sign home province boy Danny Briere as a free agent, and even offered him more money than the Flyers, but he turned them down largely because he thought playing in Montreal would be more pain than the money was worth. I think this sentiment is shared by most NHL players.

A lot of French-Canadien players feel right at home here in Montreal. If you play good you are considered a hero, if you suck balls then you will never hear the end of it...

The days of expecting a Cup are long gone though Mini, and I think you Canadiens fans need to come to terms with it. Sure, if you do the math, Montreal has won a cup every 4 years, but they haven't won a cup, or even played in a final since 1993. 16 years without as much as a glimpse of the finals. The days of "expecting a cup every year" are old, because this isn't the Montreal Canadiens of old. I'd even go as far to say, you could almost split the habs into two different teams. The teams of then, the ones with all the cup runs and 24 cups. And the team from 1993 to now, with one cup and a lot of hurt.

I just find it silly is all that you guys expect a cup every year when your team hasn't made it in 16 years. Rabib fans or not.
