BC fits in with the alleged academic and athletic standards of the ACC. Miami is a good academic school, but there athletics have always been a mess. FSU is a terrible academic school and its athletics are 'renegade', to say the least. They are one of the worst possible fits for the ACC, really.

I guess I don't see that. Notre Dame is playing the toughest schedule in the nation this year(by some people's estimations) and they are playing 4 ACC teams. Last year they had a pretty "tough" schedule(ranked in the the top 25) and played 4 ACC teams in the regular season. I don't really think adding one more ACC team really swings the schedule hard either way. Now granted we don't know what the yearly schedules will look like but given the median of playing a couple top ACC teams and a couple bottom ones a season..i don't see it really weakening the schedule all that much..if at all.... compared to what is has been the last two years. Especially with Notre Dame signed to play Michigan for the next 20+ seasons, USC annually, and mixing in games against Big12 teams like OU and Texas that they already have scheduled.
Basically ND's schedule shakes out:
5-ACC
USC
Michigan
Navy
Then mix in 4 more. I know they have some home and homes with BYU, Texas, etc upcoming and also with ASU.
Basically I think we have to really see what the future schedules will look like officially after the move before deciding it's going to weaken their schedule in any real way.

Why not? The Big East Bowls suck and is a shitty situation for ND right now.
Plus when the bowls renegotiate in a few years...You'd have to think the Big East is going to get shit on.

Baseball, Basketball, Soccer programs are pretty top notch then football is debatable where it ranks in the conference talk
BC: academics agreed, athletically? Not sure.
Miami: academics, private school agreed. Athletically everyone knows they don't have the financial resources...
FSU: not sure if serious...
My main point is adding FSU, where did that come from? The SEC could have taken FSU back in the early 90s and they joined the ACC so basically have been in the ACC since the "rise" of the conference if you wanna say.

I would guess that if Notre Dame was playing football in the Big East, the Big East would retain their automatic bid.

I'm not saying FSU is bad at sports, I'm saying their football team is always involved in something illegal. The ACC tries to be the Big10 of the East when they promote their academics, but adding FSU back in the 90's kind of made that ideal questionable, then subsequently adding Miami made it non-existent.

I guess I don't understand what you're going for here. Notre Dame doesn't really get anything out of the Big East auto-bid. Never have. They don't get anything out of the ACC auto bid directly but they get access to better non-BCS bowl games with the ACC especially the former ChampsSports Bowl, Chik, Fil-A Bowl, Independence Bowl etc.
I think as of last year the ACC had access to 8 bowl games plus the auto bid to the Orange Bowl. The Big East was 6 bowl games and the auto bid into the BCS, and the ChampsSports bowl bid for ND as a part of their Big East package was shitty because they could only take ND once every four seasons.
From a bowl perspective this is a good move for ND.

At the time of their move, BC was ranked in the 50's, I believe, for college sports. The program was up and coming, and had a lot of money. It made sense. They have taken a dip, but I don't think they are a bad program for the ACC. They rank as one of the top 15 programs when you factor in graduation rate and academic success, and that's always a great thing for a conference to have.
