Or the MMers who were bitching about hand towels on Madden. Pretty funny how things that have no effect on the gameplay are such big deals to some ppl. But hey if thats all people are complaining about then that means the game is pretty solid.

There is actually a ton of shit wrong with this game. The computer does absolutely nothing on both sides of the ball. I shouldn't HAVE to call a play on offense just to get players to move. Isomotion gets you sucked into animations that can take 10 seconds to get out of. People don't do bounce or lead passes when they need to. Stockton should not have 8+ turnovers when I'm playing smart basketball. The whole thing with players running up 10 feet every time I try to go for a steal is great too.

Not gameplay related I also love when I do the entire 1991 Series Finals in the Jordan Challenge, get the 31+, 11+, 50% Jordan stats complete (i checked it right before my last game ended), and then the game says I didn't complete it. All that for nothing. Awesome.

The game runs and plays as smooth as any sports game I've ever seen, but the fundamental basketball within it is flawed as all hell.

But, to answer your question: Yes, it is a pretty big deal to a large number of people who play these games. Myself included.

One game Bargnani took 12 threes against me, that's wack.....he doesn't attempt nowhere that many IRL...

The game is also heavily titled in the superstars favor, try stopping Kobe or Durant and you'll see what I mean......they take WAY too many shots....seems to be a tendency problem which can be edited but who the fuck wants to do that

My player mode is starting to piss me off. It's fun to play and all but it's heavily flawed.

I mean my player is a 40-something overall 2nd round PG with 1 year of college experience. If I create this same player and sim association mode dude would never see the court. He'd be a project player that might improve enough in a few years to get PT.

But in my player mode 10 games in I'm the 6th man and the team force feeds me the ball to point where it negatively effects the team. It breaks the rotations, because they sub me in at SG which makes no sense, and forces Grant Hill to play the 5. And Nash won't run the offense he just passes it to me every time.

I know the mode is just some glorified create-a-player for ppl who want to create themselves and score 30 a game but still...I'd rather struggle and have to earn everything than have it handed to me. At this point I'm just using it to hone my skills before i dig into association mode.

Forget the unstoppable CPU for a moment, why does everyone give a free pass to the canned animations?
I got a halfcourt foul based on nothing I did with the sticks.

I still love the game (even if it pisses me off), but people are so fawning over it, it makes me wonder.

Yes, it's 1000x better than Madden, but that's hardly a benchmark.

I'm not even a big baseball fan, but I still wonder if MLB: The Show holds the title as the greatest sports game next-gen.

Maybe I'm just biased because I absolutely suck at NBA2k11 and have to work hard to succeed at the game. I just want realistic stats, not my ass handed to me every game (on fucking sim pro!).

It does.

Amazing game, from the gameply to the graphics to the depth to the realism. And the best online experience i've had since Madden '03 or NHL '95.

The Show still gets the nod over NBA 2K11 if were comparing all sports game across the board....I'm still playing the Show and I've never played a baseball this long into the season.....it has the better franchise mode as well, probably one of the best ones I've ever played

But NBA 2K11 is the best basketball game to date if we're keeping the comparisons strictly to basketball

The game takes some time getting used to, once you get the terrible controls down the AI is going to be very beatable. That and just being patient on offense helps. Online I'm noticing a lot of people rushing shots and forcing passes, and that doesn't work on this game anymore. I still say that the AI man to man defense needs to be turned up a bit tho. I'm tired of seeing defenders fall all over the court from simple cross moves, makes the game look like NBA Jam at times. But, other than that it's a solid challenge and I've gotten realistic stats off of Super Star and Sim. The game seems to be very momentum based as well, once you've drained a few shots it's pretty easy to get going on a decent run. I'd start off trying to get some easy layups and then expand the offense from there, seems to work well.

For me top sports games would fall like this

1. iRacing (most realistic sport sim and best online experience)
2a. NBA 2k8 (still gets the nod for better controls, better man D, more fluid game overall, not getting stuck in animations, no delays, and still a realistic sim product)
2b. NBA 2k11
2. APF 2k8
3. NFL 2k5
4. CH 2k8

The ideal bball game would be 2k8 with the physical post D and realistic passing that we see in 2k11

These impressions are really making me consider picking this up. I just have a really hard time dropping $60 on a bball game since I'm not really into the NBA. I was able to pick up 2K10 on black friday last year for $30 so I may just wait and see if someone runs that deal again.

I know it sounds weak but one can put the gamestyle to arcade and adjust sliders from there then turn down gamespeed

I don't want to cheat to win, but I want a fighting chance.
Closest game I've had so far was a 97-91 loss (I was Portland, the CPU Phoenix).

What difficulty are you guys playing on?

I'm getting the beats on Superstar-Sim but I realize it's mainly because I'm just trying to iso on offense with my best player, and playing awful defense. I just need to figure out what team I'm going to use, then start mastering plays based for individual players.

Think i'm going to start putting a ton of time in with Milwaukee.

I'm the same Killa, I play junk/cheese offense because I'm terrible at running plays. Also, sometimes the players wont run the play in enough time. Stand in the blue circle and it takes 3-5 seconds for players to react/get into position and run the play.

I'm on pro/sim.

My issue is time. I'm new to 2k to begin with, and can only squeeze in a couple hours per week on the game.

I get into situations where i can't remember how to do what I want to do, and that's what's killing me. Liike I'll want to pro hop or drop step, but fuck up the command and hilarity ensues. And I can never remember how to dunk down low, so I end up missing 2 ft jump shots with no one around me.
