i only have one person on my DNP list from this year , other than the PR thing its usually a pretty fun game with the guy.

yeah...I wouldn't think the PR issue would be a show stopper.

I had a bad game today, quit while it was still 0-0 cuz I couldn't stand to play that way. There was motion on every single play other then maybe 2. DRC wildcat? I couldn't handle it all the motioning and audibling made me sick, It sucks cuz the guy was pretty good on defense other then the fact there was no different formations shown.

i played the piven and he did some shit that was beyond annoying.. on offense he ran the ball twice all game but every 3rd passing attempt was playaction, final ratio 37 passes, 2 rushes.. on defense he would take his DL off the line of scrimmage after the snap and put them in coverage..

I don't do it to read man and zone. I do it solely for matchups or help in run game.

More questionable tactics are now accepted, but my motioning and occasional hot routing is under fire. Those who have had problems with it have remained silent and dogged me out to other players in private instead of let me know personally, fine. I guess I won't be bothering any of guys with a challenge from this point on. I hope those who don't have a problem with my play will give me a shout if they see me online want to get a game in....

VSN ROOM GUIDELINES for Madden 10

These are the guidelines that all sim players should follow when they setup and play a game here at VSN. If you are familiar with MM and have played games there in the past, this is all old news to you guys. They are brought over directly from MM. For those not familiar with MM and with the way things were ran there, take a few minutes and read over the guidelines because this is what is expected when you play a game here. These guidelines go back for the last few years, so some stuff may seem outdated. Different guidelines can be added or removed anytime by Houtz or myself. We will always listen to any questions/suggestions for the guidelines.

Some basic things that are expected for a respectable game
*using multiple offensive and defensive sets
*play calling that is diversified
*sim style plays (punting when and where appropriate)
*you should call your defense AFTER the offense has picked their formation. Coming out in a 34 against a 4 wide set is not realistic all game long.
*When you are on offense, please hit the R2 button to get the stat overlay off the screen, its very disruptive for the defense.

Some basic things that are NOT acceptable
*Pulling players off the LOS during ANY play before the snap is not allowed(punt or otherwise)
*Shifting D-Line past their normal shifts - no manual shifts
*No moving safeties closer than the LB's in a normal formation
*No moving LB's closer to the line other than normal shifts
*Going for 4th in unrealistic times in the game (losing in the 2nd quarter by a TD and going for it on your side of the field is not realistic.)
*No Audibling down (offense or defense)
*Goal-line formation only should be used in short yardage situations (3 yards or less for a 1st down or touchdown)
*No audilbing right out of the playcalling screen
*No excessive motioning
*Milking the clock under 1 minute in the first half and two minutes left in the game is allowed. Other than that, please pick and run your play as quickly as possible
*No quitting
*Just because you see it in the NFL doesn't mean that it should be done in the VSN room

Manual substitutions that are allowed
*TE allowed to go to WR
*Safety allowed to go to CB
*HB allowed to go to FB
*FB allowed to go to HB
*HB allowed to go to WR
*FB allowed to go to WR
*FB allowed to go to TE
*TE allowed to go to FB
--Package substitutions are allowed.

New Guideline regarding fair catches
NFL Digest of Rules

Fair catch
1. The member of the receiving team must raise one arm a full length above his head and wave it from side to side while kick is in flight. (Failure to give proper sign: receivers' ball five yards behind spot of signal.) Note: It is legal for the receiver to shield his eyes from the sun by raising one hand no higher than the helmet.

2. No opponent may interfere with the fair catcher, the ball, or his path to the ball. Penalty: 15 yards from spot of foul and fair catch is awarded.

3. A player who signals for a fair catch is not required to catch the ball. However, if a player signals for a fair catch, he may not block or initiate contact with any player on the kicking team until the ball touches a player. Penalty: snap 15 yards behind spot of foul.

according to the NFL head offical the player that calls fair catch cannot impede the defenders path to the ball at all...

no more boxing out, if you call fair catch catch it or get out of the defenders way.


To stay an active member in the community you must follow these basic rules

1. No Complaining - If you have a problem with someone's game, PM them and clear it up. Then play the game again. If you are unable to clear it up, PM me and let me know what the problem is and I will mediate.

2. No Quitting - If you get disconnected, quit the game and meet back up in the lobby to replay the game. Quitting is not acceptable. PM the person and try to get it resolved. If they dont adjust, then finish the game and send a report to Mobb or Houtz. VSN sponsored league games also fall under this category. If you quit you will be removed from gaining the online password

3. Conceding - conceding is up to the 2 players who are playing each other. It's up to the participants of the game to decide if it is ok to concede. If one person does not agree, the game must continue.

4. Do not distribute the Password - You had to earn it, everyone else needs to earn it also. It takes just a few tryout games. We want to keep the integrity of the room and everyone is responsible for that. Also, do NOT ask for the password. It is easily accessible in the approved online forum. If you ask for it, your access will be removed or if you dont have it you will not be granted access.

5. RESPECT YOUR OPPONENT - We hope that is enough said - if not, no name calling. Remember that some people are playing these games with their children watching...We know the difference between kidding around and taking things to far....

6. Pausing before/during game - When someone pauses the game, whether it'd be at the start of the game, or in the middle of the game. DO NOT HIT RESUME GAME until you see the timer start to countdown(its in the top right hand corner if you didn't know).

This even comes more into focus this year since there is no in-game messaging that the person can use to tell you whats up.

Before kickoff, people like to set up their depth chart, since you can't save it offline and use it for online, this can become a problem when a guy hits "Resume Game" right away and you have 30 seconds to go through the laggy depth chart.

Also, things come up in the middle of the game that has to be attended to. Show some respect to your opponent and give him the benefit of the doubt, and wait until he hits Resume Game to continue. This is VSN, a guy isn't just going to bail on a game and leave it paused for an extended period of time.

*New guideline regarding 4th downs*:

-Are allowed at anytime of the game if its 4th and inches, as long as it is on your OPPONENTS SIDE of the field.

-You will have ONE "Coach's Choice" per half. This means that you can go for it on 4th down from anywhere on the field, no matter the distance, ONCE per half if you choose to.

This also includes suprising your opponent with a fake punt. Please understand that if you attempt a fake punt in the 1st quarter, you CANNOT go for it on 4th down and long until the 2nd half.

Examples:

-Fake punt in the 2nd quarter, and going for it on 4th and long in the 3rd quarter is allowed.

-Going for it on 4th and long in the 1st quarter and attempting a fake punt in the 2nd quarter is NOT allowed.

Note: 4th and inches from your opponents side of the field is not considered a "Coach's Choice" and is always allowed. However, if its 4th and inches and you decide to take a chance from your own territory, then it will be considered a "Coach's Choice" call

In the second half, it is allowed to go for it on 4th down if you are down by 3 or more touchdowns(21 or more points) from anywhere on the field.

*New guideline regarding pinching & crashing the line*:

When you pinch your defensive line and crash the line on the same play, it creates an unrealistic amount of pressure. Its basically a nano blitz every single time you do it. From now on, you are not allowed to pinch and crash the line on the same play.

You can continue to shift the d-line any way you want.

You can continue to crash the line any way you want.

You just can't do both on the same play. So pick one or the other, and use run commit if you need that extra boost on short yardage situations.

Anyone continuing to do this will be issued a warning. Anytime after that, you will have your approved status revoked.

*New guidelines regarding intentionally running out of bounds with a WR*

On a passing play, you cannot intentionally run your player out of bounds in order to avoid players on the field then come back in on the play to make a catch.

We hope to bring more members to VSN because of the competition and the ballers in the room. If we feel you are taking advantage of the room then we reserve the right to ban you from the room.

VSN is not the EAST room, some of you are treating it like the EAST room. And it wont be tolerated anymore. We have a new system for warning players:

1 strike = warning
2 strike = removed from room/PS3 forum for 2 weeks
3 strike = banned from PS3 VSN Forums

The same outdated rules we've been using for 2 or 3 years now?

I just don't understand how guys can't follow the same simple rules that have been in place for years. I mean really, how hard is it to just constantly play the same "sim" style of football?

A lot of those rules are outdated and shouldn't be on the list of "sim" guidelines anymore.

Here is my definition of sim, do whatever you have to do to win the game without cheating the AI, running the same plays all game, going for it on 4th down on your half of the field, and milking the clock.

Here's the reasoning I have.



It's been a rule since I joined MM and I've only been a member in the PS3 days. If guys can't win without moving 2 or 3 players presnap then they shouldn't be playing madden.

The reason I quoted all of those is because those are all things I've seen done.

I was speaking for myself...Only player I move is the one I'm using which is the MLB or a safety...but I don't think I would have a problem if someone was moving players as long as they weren't tryin to set up a nano.

Like I said...players move around on their own every which-a-way but no one complains about that. What if someone calls a safety blitz and the blitzing safety starts creepin up to the LOS before the play starts or comes up and line up right outside the DE?
