That what this game is. A summer game to hold you off until the fall games drop. Or Madden, if you're into that kinda thing. NBA 2k10 won't be leaving my disc tray for a while once I get it.

But this game is a lot of fun and like Houtz said, a nice getaway from the Show right now.

Spam punchers are the easiest ones to counter. I know I was a bit too aggressive in that fight with you vinsane and it costed me. lol, it's just hard to imagine some 6'8 260 black man with the foot speed that sweet pea has. rofl.

Whats a spam puncher?

Spam Punching is just throwing the most punches in a round. Hoping to land shots continuously. No defense is ever played by these type of players. Usually just throwing punches in hopes of catching quick knock outs.

Is it hard to land haymakers? I'm getting the game today and in the demo I don't remember landing any good haymakers. I don't even try 'em anymore. I ask this because I just noticed the CPU went 0/36 haymakers against me just now, haha.

I wouldn't say it's hard. But you do open yourself to getting fucked up if you throw them without making an effort to land them. Find a weak spot and aim them there.

honestly, I think face buttons might help a lot because the damn punch control is so fucked up while traing, especialy punch combo, i don't know how many times i am trying to throw a cross and it comes out a hook, or i try to throw a body upercut and its a hook, the controls suck balls for training, its sort of nice for fighting, but in training its a complete mess.

Well for your first 20 fights you really have no choice. You can only get 1 or 2 in. More the better is what I think. Especially now that I'm approaching the top 10 in my weight class. And I'm a 74 :smh: ... training modes REALLY suck. I'm really only consistent at sparring and the double end bag. The rest I can only get to contender at best.

Just some of my impressions on the training:

Staying on your feet: Stupid scenario. How many times can a boxer train like this? How do you set it up so hes on the verge of going down, and you have to practice this? Terrible idea.

Heavy Bag Combos: Total Punch control is cool. But NOT in a mini/training game. You're not EVER going to be 100% consistent with the punches you want to throw.

Heavy Bag Push: Seems cool I guess. But its tough for a boxer like me who is a lightweight and uses the jab A LOT. I have trouble pushing the bag past the 3rd line. Most times I'm lucky to get TO the 3rd line.

Maize bag, Double end bag, and Sparring all welcomed training modes by me.

When you think of boxers training, you think of running, jump ropes, speed bags, push ups, sit ups, etc... What the hell was the Fight Night team thinking!? :smh:

good post. My issues with the double end bag is that my big huge heavyweight boxer doesnt have the foot speed to move around the bag quick enough. As a bonus, the marker likes to pop up on the opposite side from where im standing making it even more difficult to move to the spot.....seems like cheese to me

i agree that the combo bag doesnt work well with the TPC. i take my time make sure i am move the stick correctly and i still get misses

Yeah. Its much easier to just auto-train. But later down your career you're going to wish that you had trained. Its a lose, lose situation :headache:

See, there ya go. Each mode has its disadvantages depending on the fighter. But you're forced to do ALL of these modes because those categories wont progress otherwise. VERY frustrating.

Well, I'm disappointed with the legacy mode. Its very mundane, and has NO story. Its just fight, train, fight, train, end of year, awards, fight, train, ... Training modes are awful and thats really ALL the mode consists of.

Now the graphics and physics are nice. Facial damage is very weak so far. But take that(facial damage) with a grain of salt. I've yet to box anywhere past middleweight so.

I would say give it a rental. They seem to plan on doing A LOT of DLC and thats a huge no no for me.

When you first get it you'll REALLY like it. Then that eventually wears off and you realize its not a great game. Good game that I expected GREAT things from.

Well that's about the samething UFC is, there's no story and you only get 30 fights until they force you to retire.

anyway, i was consitatnly doing 2 training sessions, which was ever 3 months.

Maynard hit upon exactly what i think sucks the most about these training sessions. The CPU can make it as hard or as easy as it wants on most of them,

With Sparing and staying on feet the CPU determines who your sparing partner is,

On push bag i have seen it stay long stretchs on either body or head shots the longer it stays in one area the faster and farther you can push the bag.

On Double End bag the cpu can light up the floor right around the area you are standing, which was the only time i got champion, or it can constantly light up on the other side of the bag and you have to circle around and by the time you get there it is no longer lit up and lights up on the other side again.

Combo Bag as stated is a bitch because you have to hit the stick exactly right, which sometimes you are doing it exactly right and it still comes out the wrong pitch.

With the Maize bag the CPU can give you a bunch of short ones that don't rack up as much points.

You guys complain too much. Some of the challenges aren't particularly easy but if you practice not only is champion level achievable but you will also improve in the areas they train in terms of your own stick skills.

about facial damage, turn the dificulty down to amatuer and fight a weak opponent, don't knock him out just beat him around and you will see some damage.

I also agree about the legacy mode, I still think Round 2 had it best with their time frame, because other than that it really doesn't have much for repeatability once you get to G.O.A.T you really have nothing else left to do but retire and do it again on a harder level

I haven't played legacy or online in about a week but I've been playing against live friends quite a bit and it is so much more fun than any other mode.

I'll definitely continue to play live people, the fights are so much more fun.

Played this online that just jabbed and jabbed and jabbed over and over with no D but for whatever reason I couldn't get out of it and it was really fucking annoying.

I KO'd him in the first fight and we rematched mainly cause I wanted to beat the shit out of him and I basically got dropped because of the damn robo-punching.

Whats a good counter for guys like that?
