yea, I've also been hearing rumors that with Caldwell coming in he's tired of the original philosophy the colts have lived by where you can get guys from smaller schools who might not have shown out as much in college, maybe a little undersized, but have great motors and are just great football players.
I don't mind us getting a defense that is bigger and a little more normal, that can only help, I'd love to see some beef at the DT position, but even now it doesn't look like that's going to happen with the rumors and mock drafts having Raji and Jerry being off the board by the time the Colts are able to make their first round pick.
I look at it like this, when the Colts pick comes around for the 1rst round, if Raji is off the board, Jerry is off the board, and there is no game changer explosive Receiver on the board, I wouldn't mind seeing us trade to get an earlier 2nd round pick and possible another 3rd round pick or more. If Harvin, or someone likewise is still on the board however, I think Polian will take them immediately.
I wouldn't mind seeing us trading down though, and still being able to pick up Derrick Williams as no one expects him to go 1rst round anyway.
Then again, in the past few days I've had a sneaking feeling that even if all of the above applies, but there is still no Percy Harvin like receiver on the board, that Polian may grab the Best O-linemen on the board if he doesn't trade down...
People can't figure out what Polian is going to do anyway though, truth is, the guy is a genius when it comes to draft day,
Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, Edgerrin James, Rob Morris, Marlin Jackson, Peyton Manning, Dallas Clark, Bob Sanders, Dwight Freeney, Joseph Addai, Terrik Glenn, and Anthony Gonzales...
all of these guys were 1rst round picks, now Morris may have never been considered a great in the NFL, but the guy was solid and a huge contributor to Indianapolis, especially during the superbowl run where we FINALLY benched Gilbert Gardner because he was a POS linebacker and put Morris in at the outside linebacker.
but back on point, Polian can pick them, and he picks them well and finds talent, I'll never be worried about the Colts not having enough talent, just look at how many starters he pulled from the 1rst round alone, since he's been here, the only bust we can actually consider even close to a bust is Morris, and he was a great contributor to the team.
