Official Manti Te'o only plays well against teams from the Big East and B1G thread

So sick of the "He's a Mormon at a catholic school!!! It's crazy!" No no no. He's a great football player who went to a school that he thought would be a great fit for his football skills.

Manti felt Notre Dame fit more religiously actually. He thought USC was a better fit football wise.

Did some number crunching today after watching ESPN compare Mr. Futbaw to Cam Newton. I'd just like to throw out a huge LOL.

The stat padding at the end of blowouts have inflated Manziel's numbers an insane amount. Look at today for example, with like 250 passing yards at halftime, up 42-0, A&M comes out throwing in the second half so Manziel can rack up another 100 passing yards in the second half. How about this, btw?

Anyone who compares Manziel's season to Newton's or Tebow's has no credibility whatsoever. Not to mention, Auburn's slate of unranked opponents was much tougher than A&M's schedule full of cupcakes where Manziel put up 300 yards passing per game.

BUT, there is a comparison with Tebow's '07 season...he went 1-2 against Top 25 competition, wasn't a world beater against them either.

I don't know the purpose of comparing Manziel to Newton and Tebow...both those guys won the Heisman, so its not like Manziel is in bad company.

Teo's Heisman campaign would be much better if he had better stats or played some snaps on offense at FB or TE. I don't think he has any TDs. I also don't think he even leads ND in tackles, which is odd. About the best thing going for him statistically is that he has some INTs. Charles Woodson won his Heisman in part because of his offense and his TDs, of which Teo has neither. His lack of big plays hurts him. I remember when Simeon Rice was at Illinois, he had something like 27 sacks his junior year, obliterating the season record, and he didn't get any Heisman consideration. So for those of you naysaying Manziel's Heisman candidacy, its not like Teo's is that much better. I can point to numerous defensive players in recent years who had stronger Heisman cases than Te'o.

Ok, Te'o has over 100 tackles, 7 INT's(the most by a LB at the FBS level since at least 2000) and Notre Dame doesn't really blitz the MLB's all that much so Teo not having many sacks isn't a shock. Add to this Te'o is the leader of the nation's top ranked defense on the nations top ranked and undefeated team that was built around that defense(Suh's wasn't IIRC) plus add in the nebulous off the field stuff, I think Teo's case>Suh's.

Also add that Te'o isn't going up against Suh or the Heisman finalist from that year. This is a really weak year for the Heisman....IMO it should be Te'o or Klein.

Nebraska was 2nd that year in scoring defense.

Same as Notre Dame this year. (Alabama jumped them by shutting out Auburn)
