Glass is half full: When the season started, Giants were picked to be at bottom of NFC East, Dallas was supposed to be top dog, followed by Philly and the Shanahan led Skins....Giants weren't even supposed to be a factor.....so in restrospect I guess 10 wins was a good season

To me, the season was a waste - a total disaster. Tampa Bay had a great 10-win season. Not the Giants. All I think about are the seven minutes against the Eagles.

When you look at how good this team was, just imagine if you took a 3rd or a 4th of the turnovers away. For a team to turn the ball over almost 3 times a game and still have 10 wins is unbelievable. Glad we went out somewhat on top with a win. Really hope this season leaves a bad taste in this team's mouth.
And please for the love of god, please lose this weekend Eagles.

Giants in the Super Bowl
Despite those 5 quarters, I don't have that horrible feeling like I did after the playoff losses to Carolina and Philly...or even last year. The defense had a bounce back year and despite all the injuries, our offensive line was solid.
Turnovers, special teams and lack of execution against the 4th quarter were disgraceful though.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth. It'll be a long time before I get over this season. Like Carl Banks always says, the Giants don't pay attention to the little things.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Giants had 80 scrimmage plays of 20 or more yards this season (58 passes, 22 runs), tying them with the Philadelphia Eagles for the highest total in the NFL. Their 14 touchdown passes of 20-plus yards led the league.
The Giants’ offense led the NFL by averaging 6.57 yards on first down.
The Giants and Indianapolis Colts each allowed a league-low 16 sacks this season. That was easily the fewest sacks allowed by the Giants since the 16-game season was instituted in 1978. Their previous low total was 24 sacks allowed in 2002. The overall team record is 10, set during a 14-game season in 1972.
QB Eli Manning is second in Giants history in attempts (3,332), completions (1,932), and yards (22,646), and is third in touchdown passes (156).
WR Mario Manningham was one of just two receivers to score on two receptions of at least 85 yards this season. The other was Philadelphia’s DeSean Jackson. Manningham had seven touchdown receptions of 25 or more yards, which placed him second in the league behind Pittsburgh’s Mike Wallace, who had nine. In the final three games of the season, Manningham caught 16 passes for 346 yards, a 21.6-yard average. Manningham became the first Giants’ receiver with three consecutive 100-yard games since Homer Jones in 1968.
WR Hakeem Nicks led the team with 11 touchdown catches (in 13 games) and Manningham added nine. They are the first pair of Giants with at least nine touchdown catches since 1967, when Jones had a franchise-record 13 and Aaron Thomas had nine.
HB Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 1,235 yards and HB Brandon Jacobs had 823 to give the Giants two 800-yard runners in the same season for only the second time. In 2008, Jacobs rushed for 1,089 yards and Derrick Ward added 1,025. Since 2006, four different Giants backs have rushed for at least 1,000 yards – Tiki Barber, Jacobs, Ward, and Bradshaw. No other team has more than three 1,000-yard rushers in those five seasons. Bradshaw finished ninth in the NFL in rushing yards and 12th in yards from scrimmage with 1,549.
The Giants held their opponents to fewer than 100 rushing yards in nine of 16 games. They were 9-0 in those games. The Giants were 1-6 when the opposition rushed for more than 100 yards.
The Giants led the NFL in takeaways (39) and giveaways (42), the first NFL team to do so since St. Louis in 2003 (46 takeaways, 39 giveaways).

so... steve smith coming back or not?
i think a lot depends on his asking price. he went from having a great 2009 pro bowl season to missing half of 2010 while nicks and manningham stepped up and showed they can be a solid 1-2. i think the one thing working in smith's favor is the lack of depth at WR. after nicks and manningham there is ramses barden (whos done nothing in a giants uniform so far and is coming back from a pretty bad injury) derrick hagan (looked a hell of a lot better towards the end of the season, basically played the role of steve smith while he was out, but spent his entire giants career on special teams until all the injuries) domenick hixon (solid returner but never really anything more then a deep threat at WR) then guys like calhoun and clayton who most likely wont figure into the WR rotation.
i would like to see smith back, but only if the price is right. im more then happy to have nicks and manningham as the 1-2 combo but the drop off after that worries me.

I doubt Smith will be able to get a long-term deal coming off that injury. A one-year, two-year deal with a reasonable base salary/bonus and incentives is warranted IMO.
I'm confident he'll be back.
As far as Plax goes....fans love the guy but I'm hesitant after he's spent two years in the can. Granted, it's the same offense but is he still in shape? I wouldn't mind them signing him to an incentives contract too and seeing how it ends up.

I'm a huge Giants fan and a big supporter pf Eli but the Int's were definitley a backbreaker for us this year. Granted half of those were off tipped balls but he has to learn that taking a sack and punting can be good rather then forcing some of the bonehead throws he made this year.
