A 45-year-old man fell to his death Thursday night while attending the Texans-Vikings preseason game.
CBS Houston reported that the man, who has yet to be identified, allegedly tried to slide down the outside hand rail of an escalator when he fell three stories and landed on pavement below.
Officials of Reliant Park issued a statement on the incident.
"There has been an accident involving a patron falling from an escalator at Reliant Stadium this evening," the statement read. "The patron was transported to an area hospital. An investigation is ongoing."
CBS Houston reported that the man was pronounced dead on arrival and, citing sources, that he was believed to be under the influence of alcohol.
Randall Wisdom, a Texans fan in attendance, told TV station KHOU that he and his 18-year-old daughter were on the escalator below. Wisdom said he saw a hat and a cup fall, then the man.
"My daughter is devastated, she's never experienced something like that," Wisdom said. "We seen him when he landed."
Houston police are investigating the incident as an "accidental death."
