PORT CHARLOTTE---Can you feel it? Spring training is in the air. Today marked the start of baseball seasons as teams in Florida and Arizona began playing exhibition games in preparation for the start of the regular season towards the end of the month. In Port Charlotte, Fl., the Tampa Bay Rays opened spring ball in the right foot by defeating the Baltimore Orioles 6-4.
Evan Longoria put on a show, hitting 3-4 while recording a home run in the third inning that put Tampa up 1-0.
The Rays wouldn't relenquish that lead as they went on to defeat the Orioles, who nearly tied the game in the eight inning after a strong rally to trim the lead.
