Haslett needs to go. He cannot call plays. There's no reason for a prevent style defense on that 4th and Goal with 12 to go. You blitz a gimpy Romo and make him beat you under pressure.

Makes it worse. He couldn't scramble. He couldn't move for shit. Everyone saw it. Haslett played a prevent. Fuck this.

I think the defense throughout the entire season has held up remarkably well. They continue to play well deep into games despite going half of the game or more without any support whatsoever from the offense. That is with a crap secondary and an aging leader on defense.

However, that call by Haslett can not be excused. It was prevent in every sense of the word, and he's had many issues with calling those plays in game-deciding situations previously. If Shanahan does stay, Haslett has to go and replaced by someone new. Not Raheem Morris. As a matter of fact, if Shanahan is gone they better not promote Morris and keep him.

Wouldn't surprise me. Now I just hope they clean out all of the coaches, and go with a younger guy who is an innovator on offense.

If they want to bring in Art Briles, it would only fuel the perception that Snyder got involved again and that RGIII became a favorite and now runs this team. I would go so far as to say even if Briles is by far and away the best guy for the job on merit, that they do not hire him.

The Redskins may also want a coach who can make personnel decisions. That hasn't worked out either. Steve Spurrier had autonomy in picking many of his personnel, that didn't work. Gibbs had autonomy, and what we got was a top heavy roster with no depth. Shanahan had it, and I think he got overwhelmed. Allen is a cap expert, not a talent evaluator. He needs to bring in that talent evaluator to be the GM, and then from there we find a head coach.

I would look for a young, promising coordinator. Someone who is a fresh, innovative mind, who can connect with RGIII and repair the relationship between player/coach. I would suggest that our primary targets be both Greg Roman and Darrell Bevell, of the 49ers and Seahawks respectively. Both are running offenses with similar quarterbacks right now, both have coached against RGIII and have a background knowledge and would be a fresh face for the franchise.

Honestly, that is what is most important, the fresh face. It equals a new start, and ever since Snyder took over we've brought in name coaches who have already had success elsewhere and they are unable to replicate it. For as much as I'd like to see Jon Gruden come in, it's the same story all over again.

We can't even handle a coach firing correctly…….Shanahan was caught in traffic coming INTO Redskins Park, and covers hung in the press area were done with scotch tape :lol2:

I am disappointed that Haslett and Morris and others have been given a stay of execution if you will. The bottom line is that the team needs to move on from everyone associated with Shanahan, unless it's an obvious fit like Lovie Smith being hired as head coach, and retaining another Tampa 2 coach in Morris. Even then I would question it. Chris Foerster is a great offensive line coach and did wonders with a unit that contains only one elite talent, but I would even say he should be out.

Interesting to see that Bruce Allen has been the one to have contact with reporters and doing press conferences. Aside from his statement this morning to the press, Snyder is not available to press. Allen has also said that personnel decisions now lie with him. I thought they would bring in another GM, but they have a highly-touted group of executives in the personnel department and AJ Smith is a senior executive. I think that brain trust could be enough.

Early reports from the Post are saying Lovie Smith is a candidate, but beyond him fulfilling the Rooney Rule interview requirement, I can't see him being a serious interview. His skill set is defense, and we need a head coach who is going to be involved more with the offense and working with RGIII. Also mentioned was Bill Cowher and that the Redskins have already reached out to his representatives, but I can't see him getting involved in this quagmire. I also want someone who has not been a head coach before at the NFL level, and not someone directly from the NCAA either.

Permission requested to interview Darrell Bevell was approved, and the meeting was thought to have occurred last night. Sean McDermott, Carolina's DC, has been given permission to interview and that would happen this weekend.

Two other names being thrown around are both of Cincinnati's coordinators, Jay Gruden and Mike Zimmer. Seeing as how they are still in the playoffs this weekend, we can't interview them until the Bengals lose. Makes sense that we are hitting Bevell and McDermott this week.

Lovie Smith seems to be out of play, thankfully. Most are saying it's a foregone conclusion that he will end up in Tampa Bay.

Rooney Rule requirement. Sucks for Caldwell, but with Smith headed for Tampa Bay, he's going to get plenty of phone calls. Possibly Horton as well.

Only thing I could possibly think of otherwise is his work with Peyton Manning. But Caldwell would be, without a doubt, a figurehead hire at this point and I would not be happy at all with that pick.

If you want someone good with quarterbacks, there are plenty of options out there who aren't coaching retreads. I really want us to go with someone that hasn't been there before. I still hope it's Darrell Bevell, looks like they aren't going to look at Greg Roman.

Briles and Cowher have shot down rumors that they are interested in changing their current situations with any teams.

We interviewed Cowboys special teams coach Rich Bisaccia, who coached with the Bucs while Allen was in Tampa Bay. Considering the debacle he went through in San Diego with their horrid special teams, I don't really want him here.

McDermott's interview is scheduled for this weekend. Still awaiting word on Caldwell's time next week, as well as time for Perry Fewell from the Giants.

Looking like Jay Gruden is really the guy the Redskins want. They are spending time interviewing candidates from other divisional teams as free scouting reports. Another sign pointing to Gruden are keeping coaches like Morris, Forster and McVay who have ties to Gruden.

I don't like Gruden as much as I would Darrell Bevell, but I can get behind this signing. I'd like to avoid a college coach like Franklin, or an NFL retread. Jay Gruden would definitely be a young, fresh face to bring, something we haven't seen from our coaches in some time.
