If this was any other player involved, they would likely be ruled out for the year, but because it is RGIII, they are going to hold out hope.
The other interesting topic of discussion- if Cousins is doing well and the Redskins are winning, and RGIII can return, what do they do? I don't think you could think about messing with what's working, but this is the Redskins we are talking about.
at first i was thinking that Cousins would have the opportunity to win as the starting QB
BUT
i am thinking of few things though:
* Cousins is a decent QB and an excellent back up.
* he doesnt have a very strong arm or even a long ball.
* he is a pocket passer yes, but he really doesnt have a very big QB frame that withstand all those hits in pocket.
* he only looks good when coming in after RG3 is knocked out followed by some dismal games when he is a starter.
on the Mike & Mike show today, Chris Carter explained it well. if the Redskins are thinking franchise future, stick with RG3.
if they want short term, then Cousins is the guy and that only because RGIII has had bad breaks with injury in his NFL career.
plus; they have already built an offense around RGIII. it only works for Cousins temporarily, not for the long term.
he has an injury, its not career ending injuries........
there are lots of guys in the NFL that started their careers plagued with injuries and yet were successful.
the show also brought up the another point........they are both in their contract year.
do you put that effort into RGIII, who the team has been built around for 3 years
OR
do you go with the quick fix, with Cousins.
also;
the talk about he could the next Tom Brady
he had those chances 3 full games last year - so no:
:denzel:
it does come off as a Homer
BUT
the fact is RGIII is a better QB than Cousins.
