He had a couple of moments of absolute horror today. Davis was awful too. The reason Boateng had such an influence early was because Davis wasn't playing defense.

Other than that I thought Germany was just the better team. USA wasn't that bad in my eyes.

Oh I agree, and they are. I just keep waiting for Bradley to show up. He was okay against Portugal, outside of the ghastly no-clear. Other than that, yikes.

I still can't believe Spain was eliminated so quickly...and for both Italy and England not to advance is pretty sad. Lots of weird matchups in the tournament table. It looks like Brazil v. Germany and Holland v. Argentina in the semis.

Good ending ...but my favorite part was the camera shot of a woman hands on face...teary eyed..nervously awaiting her country's decisive kick...then she realized shes on camera forgets all about that and smiles and jumps up and down like she won the lottery. Stadium selfies > country pride.

Mexico just minutes from pulling the upset. Clear flop by Robben to get the PK but they should've been awarded one in the first half anyways.

It's semantics, but I think it was a dive, not a flop. Poor challenge that was over-aggressive, and Robben pulled off a good dive. A little surprised it was called in that circumstance, but that's what happens. Definitely a bummer that we don't get to see any more of SuperOchoa.

Sort of feel bad for Mexico. They played great in the group stage and were robbed of 2 goals vs Cameroon. Netherlands should get by Greece/Costa Rica to make the semi's.

Agreed. Marquez put his leg/foot in front of Robben's path to the ball. I think it was a bad call, because Marquez should not have gotten a yellow and the ref "justified" his own decision by giving out the card for no real reason. Oh well.

Costa Rica/Greece was so terrible that it ended up being dramatic. Costa Rica flopped all game, and Greece couldn't do anything despite getting like a 45 minute 'powerplay'. I remember one time late in the game Greece had a 5-on-2, and the guy with the ball dribbled right into both defenders. Come on. It was like a 2010 WC game...lots of chirping and flopping, very little soccer action.
