Yes, but you do know you can download full games on PS3 too, right? Almost ever major release form the past year or so is available for download.

Thanks. I didn't know that, nor even how it works. The only game I've played regularly on PS3 the last couple years has been The Show.

I dont think it will hurt sales as bad as ppl think. If only one person is allowed in the Joe Bob's library at a time, that can sway someone to go out and get the game himself so he has no restrictions on when he can play it.

It bascially can give someone a taste, the Full Game tho, with limits. So if a person who I allowed played my Madden 25 and ended up loving it but I also have my little bro in my library at the same you tend to be on, then you have two options. Buy the game yourself or wait for my bro to get off.

Major Nelson Addresses DRM Concerns, Silencing Don Mattrick and How PS4 Isn’t a Threat

A Reddit user recently got in touch with Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb, the community manager for Xbox, and obtained a wealth of information regarding the Xbox One. Despite the official Redditor’s E3 interview, which confirms a few of the details, there’s a ton of other stuff here to take into account. Take it all with a grain of salt as usual, but considering the user’s credibility (most likely a journalist, since he went to E3 and by judging by his profile here), it’s hard to discredit.

Regarding the current opinion of the Xbox One, don’t count on Microsoft changing their DRM strategy any time soon. In fact, they’ll be working to “educate” gamers about the benefits of their policies.

It’s also revealed that the 24 hour check-in is a means to update your library, for when you lend games to friends. Which is funny because the with game trades limited, why would it need updating every 24 hours? No good answers there and no clear understanding as to why it inconveniences consumers.

And say goodbye to leaks, since Microsoft is also working on a system where games can only be activated on release, no matter when you buy them.

It also looks at the PS4 as “Xbox 360 version 2″ due to the lack of social and multi-tasking features. The company doesn’t even see Sony as a threat. Even better, it believes that the PS4′s graphics RAM will run hotter, besides not being as optimized as the Xbox One. Thus leading to both being evenly matched or, believe it or not, the Xbox One performing ahead.

The good news is that the company sees Don Mattrick as some one who is making them look worse, and is working to muffle him.

As for military personnel playing consoles: the defense given is that PS3/PS4 won’t be allowed on DoD networks. So the whole issue of military members switching to the PlayStation while on deployment is a non-issue. Scroll down in the comments on that thread, and you’ll find military personnel who agree – but state that they can still play offline. Also, how would that inspired a switch to the Xbox One, since it needs to be online?

Nelson also talked about changing the messaging and marketing campaigns to support those whose friends would be jumping to PSN. He said they understood that and were going to be working to actively change the messaging and marketing campaigns. Hilariously, they don’t feel that pre-orders will determine the console war until both consoles are released.

He also pointed out that unlike the free games you get on PSN, the two free games per month on XBL are yours forever. Whereas if you cancel your PS Plus subscription, you would lose those games.

MS said early on that one was included with every console purchase. I'm not sure why they would change what they did with the 360.

Turtle Beach has been announced as the official Xbox One brand so maybe that has something to do with it, but I doubt it.

Only one person being able to use your family share at a time makes it not nearly as cool as I thought. Oddly enough I think it'd be more effective for casual gamers...people who only play a few games and have a few people on their friends list.
If I add 10 hardcore gamers to my family share, no way they're gonna be sitting around taking turns to play stuff:yao: If I had something like that I think my 10 spots would be reserved for people who were literally in my family or real life friends.


The more I think about this, the more I realize how much I wouldn't even use it.

The more I think about this, the more I realize how much I wouldn't even use it.

If you have 10 hardcore gamers, at least half of them would likely buy the game themselves meaning there would be very little chance you'd have to wait to take a turn. This feature will do wonders for people who work 2nd shift and have the early part of the day and night time off work.

I have no problem letting people like Atlas, Pete, Bill, Kevin, etc. piggy back off my CoD purchase every year. Comes out around my birthday (on my birthday this year) anyway so MOAR free games.

What I would like to know is if you have the ability, and I'm assuming you do, to choose who can play at certain times. So if Atlas is playing Madden on my shared list, but Pete wants to play CoD with me, am I able to boot Atlas off? And since the check in for this in once an hour, does he still get to play for a little while or does it boot him immediately? It'd be nice to let them play for a little bit until the hour is up to reach save points (Although they've said you pick up exactly where you left off so many games this may be irrelevant), finishing a game of madden, etc.

I think it would work best for a game like The Last of Us. I'm not buying it because zombie games aren't my thing and I'm certainly not spending $60 for 15-20 hours of gameplay. However, I certainly wouldn't mind playing it for free a couple weeks down the road when he's not sharing it as much anymore.

One character will be free, the rest can be had for a fee.

Players will be able to download the game and play as one character for free, with additional fighters available for a fee.

Releasing as a digital download alongside the Xbox One, Killer Instinct will also ship with a season pass enabling fans to unlock the game's content for one lump sum.

Microsoft's Torin Rettig told Polygon that the free-to-play pricing model ensures fans receive the content that they want.

"Most fighting games that come out are disc-based games where you get a huge cast of awesome characters, but it is a massive cast," Rettig explained.

"Some games have anywhere between 30, 40, even 50 characters. And in reality, most players don't play that many characters. You just only have so much time to get good at so many characters.

"So we wanted to take that into consideration and release the game in a way that took that into consideration and allowed players to get in and play the game at the level that they want to play it.

"So the way this game will work is when it releases, you'll be able to play one character for free. You'll be able to just download the client and play that character - Jago - as much as you want.

"And you will be able to buy other characters and other content as you see fit. So as much or as little as you want.

"We wanted there to be basically a wide funnel. We wanted as many players to get in and enjoy the game and experience the game as possible, and to engage in it at a level that they want to engage at."

Announced during Microsoft's E3 press conference, Killer Instinct will be developed by Silent Hill studio Double Helix.

The game will use the same extensive combo system as the original, and feature returning characters such as Sabrewulf and Jago.

They will also likely have a much smaller library. Positives and negatives for each side. It will take some communication between "family" members to have everything run perfectly smooth. Luckily us VSNers have a CB (Are you still banned? If so, it wasn't a shot at you :tiptoe.
