It makes absolutely no sense for Nebraska to pay Boise State (a team that could potentially beat them). Zero sense whatsoever. There is no benefit at all for the Nebraska program.

I think you need to read the article again, and read the link I posted, too.

Nowhere does it say the home and home was turned down over the money. The Nebraska. Spokesman says they declined to pay the money, but did not say it was for the home and home. Gee, I wonder why he left that part out. All options were discussed, home and home wasn't going to happen for whatever reason, and Nebraska turned down the home game and scheduled cheaper bums instead.

Much to do about nothing. This is a non story.

re-read what i posted: nebraska wanted a home and home, boise wanted only to play in lincoln, but with the caveat of getting paid $1 million... big boy schools dont do this, they always agree to home and home series or they play at a neutral site... like i said, boise needs to put on its big boy pants if it wants to sit at the BCS table...

I don't even disagree with that.

But it also makes no sense, for boise on their limited budge, to make a trip to Nebraska for free. That's why this is a non story, just some BCS rah rah cartel goof writer/blogger stirring up shit. Boise has scheduled a shit ton of cartel games, the idea they are ducking Nebraska is laughable. Its just a game that fell through. Who cares.

Nebraska didn't want to. Why is this an issue? Its not like Boise isn't scheduling other good games. Home and homes with Oregon & Oregon St, essentially a road game to VT.

that isnt the point im trying to make, and i could care less about that "issue"... besides, the schools like Ole Miss, Arkansas, ASU and UW are not even close to being on the same level as Nebraska (all are middle tier teams, nebraska is upper tier, as is Boise)... i could care less that its nebraska, its just that elite teams dont ask other elite teams for money to play at their place (they aren't going to give up that large of a percentage of one games profits for a game they could lose)... besides, you saying teams like Nebraska dont offer Boise home and home series is the only moot point, since Nebraska clearly offered a home and home series...


and just so you know, according to their future schedule, the only BCS team that they have an away game with is Ole Miss next year... they also have home and homes with BYU, Utah and Wazzu... I dont see Arkansas, UW or ASU on the docket...

Nebraska turned down the the home game because they didn't want to pay for it. This was for 2010 (this year), Boise went ahead and scheduled an home and home with Oregon St instead. Nobody has said why the Nebraska home and home fell apart. They would have moved the VT game to October and played Nebraska opening week, but by that point it was too late for VT to move the game, but Nebraska decided to pay less money to beat Cupcak U anyway.

Boise has nothing to prove here, they have scheduled multiple games with cartel teams the next few years, so the notion they didn't want to play Nebraska is ridiculous. Nebraska wasn't willing to pay, chose a cheaper game and easier win, that's really the end of it.

Florida Atlantic and Louisiana Laffayette got paid 650,000 and 700,000 each, and given how limited their budgets are they took it. Both of those schools have 2 of the worst budgets in FBS CFB today, and yet they had no problem with it, while Boise has around 10-15 million more to work with and demanded over 300,000 more.

No one is saying Boise is afraid to play top teams or afraid to play Nebraska. However, Boise seems content to play the victim role while they are demanding a ridiculous amount of money compared to their market value (quote from Nebraska's AD), and the notion that top programs are afraid to play them is the most overblown and largely untrue issue in CFB today.

Boise has an open door policy for home-and-home WITH ANYONE IN THE COUNTRY:

AD Gene Bleymaier says plenty of teams will play the Broncos in non-conference games but only at their place. For example, Boise is traveling to Ole Miss next season but not returning the game. Not only does Bleymaier believe his program is beyond having to play those one-and-done games, but he plans to introduce NCAA legislation to mandate return games.

Another reminder that Virginia Tech is the "home" team. It is getting $2.6 million in guarantee money from the game. Boise is getting less than half that, $1.25 million.

It is a money issue, on every level.

Big boys at big boy stadiums won't do home-and-homes with the little guy while giving compensation for the little guy to actually afford the trip to travel there.

Look no further than florida...they won't play anybody on the road OOC. NOBODY. Why? It isn't for the K-State like ease of the schedule, but because they max out the home games, restrict travel, pay the least amount of money to schools, and the end result is maxing out the profit.

I think I read somewhere that the BCSNCG in 06 was the first time Florida traveled outside the state of Florida for an OOC game since the 1930s.
