I thought this was a great flick. Probably the best movie of the summer. It totally lived up to the hype for me. 4 stars

Saw it twice over the weekend and loved it. A few holes, but the visuals, sound and performances were absolutely brilliant. Fassbender does it again and is moving his way up the ranks of the elite. Noomi Rapace has a GREAT ASS /pacino. Her body is absolutely perfect. Her teeth too.

 

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVED the abortion scene. It was so cringe-worthy and suspenseful and just zomg. Also loved seeing Fassbender get his head ripped off.

I read in an interview that what he said has an actual translation but we have to wait until the DVD commentary to find out, unless a fan is able to translate it. I think he encouraged the engineer to attack, I think David wanted to be a creator himself, and he couldn't fully do that until his own creator was dead.

Also I hated Shaw, I really wanted her to die. I guess I'm in the minority there.

1) He was simply curious.
2) Or the more likely motivation imo, Weyland told him to do so. If you remember right before the scene with Holloway, David spoke to Weyland, and when Charlize Theron confronted him about it, he said that Weyland told him to "try harder." Obviously Weyland was pushing him to do whatever was necessary, Weyland didn't care if everyone died, he was dead anyways unless the engineers gave him immortality.

He's watching Lawrence of Arabia. If you haven't seen that movie, watch it. I don't know what significance that has, but later he talks about being in the desert and says it's from his favorite movie. He's talking about LoA. I agree that he was curious with the black liquid, but they had a lab and testing environment. And I agree that Weyland told him to hurry, but wonder whether that meant he needed to live test on Holloway. It really showed that he was ruthless in pursuit of curiosity. I think this is key in that what he said to the Engineer isn't necessarily what he was told to say.

I really wonder why Weyland needed to be a secret on the voyage. That didn't make sense to me. Also, I was amazed to learn that was Guy Pearce. Love that dude and the make up gave away nothing, he really became that character for me.

The events of the movie take place over the next 36 hours, which means that Shaw, who believed it was impossible that she could be pregnant, gave birth to her out of this world baby on Christmas day.

To go along with the links to Christianity, the movie hints that the engineers decided to kill off everyone on Earth ~2000 years ago. One can assume that it is suggesting that Jesus was an engineer and humans killed him, provoking the engineers rage.

I read that Jesus was an Engineer. Never read the part about Christmas/Eve though. That's pretty slick. Does that make Holloway God? That "baby" was courtesy of his sperm/black goo and her womb, so that makes the Alien at the end, their bloodline, no?

After thousands (?) of years, the humans finally accept the invitation to come find their maker. And who shows up? A selfish prick only concerned with his own immortality.

I think the engineers decided the mass killing, or sacrifice was necessary to start life fresh. Similar to the flood tale that is present in Christianity and several other religions. Humans didn't agree with the engineer's values so they needed to be sacrificed to create something better.

I was considering watching it through a shitty torrent. Quality is absolutely brutal though. Going to the movies right now isn't a possibility but I really want to watch this movie.

And I watched the AVP movies recently and I just watched my first alien movie and seeing as this is a prequel to alien I'm assuming the dreadlock warriors were the predators.
