Update: Tracy McGrady Injury

Houston, Texas - McGrady went down with a seperated shoulder a little over a week ago. He was expected to miss between a week, now, and two weeks. The Rockets may be without there superstar shooting guard for up to three weeks total. McGrady has not practiced with the team but has run drills the past two days with the conditioning coach. The swelling in Tracy's arm is starting to go down but there is a lot left in the sore shoulder. McGrady has been rehabilitating the injury and although he's made progress, he's not moving at the pace the doctors first suggested. He continues to struggle with the vertical movement of his arm and cannot yet life it completely above his head.

Before getting injured, McGrady led the Rockets in points per game with just under 24 and proved to be the primary ball handler for Houston. Since he's been out, Aaron Brooks has stepped up his role and has produced at a high rate, yet the Rockets seem to be struggling. Houston only has one victory on this roadtrip without him and lost three big games taking them down to lower and lower seeds in the conference.

"As a team, we want McGrady 100% before we put him out on the court. He's not jumping with leaps and bounds in his rehabilitation and we don't want to risk further injury to the left shoulder. He may get a few minutes in a few coming games but nothing like the 35+ minutes per game he was averaging. It's great news that it is not his shooting shoulder which should save some time before he gets onto the court." - Rick Adelman
