Rain Glitch

there is definitely a glitch in franchise/Online franchise and superstar mode where certain teams will only play in the rain at home. Read up on it last night and teams confirmed that i can find

Browns, Jets, Chiefs, Dolphins and Ravens

all 4 preseason (2 home, at Chi, at philly) plus 2 regular season home games were all in the rain for the browns. i tried multiple restarts and still nothing but rain. My guess is it will be cold weather cities. I read teams like Dallas and Arizona were not effected by this

I've played the Panthers at their place 4 times in franchise and it has rained every time.

I wonder what else. I can't even play with my Lions because I can't play at home without vomiting over the graphics. SO, I have been playing with the Broncos, but even then, I can only play 'Play Now' games because I have to select day games, outside.

It's not exactly predetermined. I wish it was, it would have allowed me to make sure it was properly tuned. It's based on "pseudo" random numbers... meaning it grabs different factors that are not random and combines them to make them varied. In other words, I can't "assign" weather for a specific game, I have a specific grouping of numbers that plug into a mathmatical equation, but the numbers polled to complete that calculations are not random, but determined by repeatable circumstances. Thus, the same game will produce the same weather each time.

We didn't redo the logic this year, only the numbers behind the scenes.

Unfortunately, this cropped up very late and it was the very first thing I worked on way back in January when I got here. Miami is actually set to zero precipitation in September because I was trying everything to get it to stop, but it didn't. I believe it's a bug related to dynamic time-of-day, but I'm not sure.

At any rate, I'm rewriting the system that determines the weather because the old system made zero sense, I just tried to do the best I could with it.

This is the problem. Probably won't be fixed in the patch, I'm sure next year "franchise weather tuning" will be on the list of improvements.

They should just unlock the option for the user to select the weather in franchise games, since they can't code random weather in properly.

Shit should not be difficult. If you know the average high/low and average chance of precipitation for a city throughout the year...seems real easy to set the game up so weather reflects what happens IRL. I'm assuming they'd have access to all that data and more since they have a partnership with The Weather Channel.

Doesn't even need to be that complicated. Just set a small percentage for rain in every stadium, and a small percentage for snow in December and beyond for the cold weather stadiums. You'd get rare precipitation everywhere and nobody would be the wiser.

It's amazing the new and creative ways they fuck these games up. Patches are the enemy. The consumer is the tester.

Nah there was no testing involved here. They shipped the game knowing it was fucked up. Dude knew it was a problem in January.

Being realistic I don't expect them to be honest and say "Hey guys the franchise weather is broken, but please come out and buy the game anyway! Pre-order now!!"

But they should have at least given the user the option to adjust it.
