Report: CB Nnamdi Asomugha likely to sign with Lions

I do happen to remember the Lions being in every game last year but one. Nearly every loss was by a touchdown or less. We split the series with GB, too. You guys are acting like we are the 0-16 Lions and thinking that we think we will be Super Bowl champions next year. We won't be winning the Super Bowl, but we aren't the laughing stock of the league anymore.

Aaron Rodgers was injured that game and Matt Flynn, a guy who had never started a game at that point, was filling in for him. Not really that impressive. If they ran away with it it would have been but they won by four points.

I didn't watch that game at all. No idea what went on. I'm just fucking around. Seriously though, at one point the Lions were 2-10. The Browns were in a lot of their games last year too and now Mangenius is out the door.

Vut do the Browns have to do with anything. They were outscored 332-271 on the season.

The Lions were outscored 369-362, a mere 7 points.

That stat is very skewed by the one blowout game the Lions had over the Rams and the game in which the Browns looked like they pretty much gave up against the Steelers. The difference between them is really not that far. The Browns are an example of a team similar to the Lions that won't break out (aside from the reason that they play in a tougher division).

He's the missing piece to being a real competitive playoff team. The Lions aren't experienced enough for a super bowl run (but anything's possible)

Stafford is healthier than he has been his whole life. His injuries, I believe, where just bad luck. If you watch his college highlights, Stafford was durable as a mofo.

The surgery he had sure seemed to help Drew Brees and Sam Bradford.

The Bears had 11 wins and the Packers had 10. From a wins standpoint the AFC North was tougher. The Packers were good but they had some injuries and didn't come away with as many wins that would dictate how good they truly were. As for the Bears, I wouldn't be surprised if they finished with a .500 record maybe give or take a game. In the post-season the Packers did put it all together but

Overall yes, I would say the AFC North is tougher.

It would make the Lions a very scary team. No front here. But that team still has it's holes. Most notably in their backfield, and the middle of that defense.

I'm not saying the Lions are absolutely terrible. They have talent and you're right they are competitive, but they are still in the bottom half of the league. It's not like a player of Asomugha's stature will look at the Lions and decide to go there instead of a team like the Eagles because it's just too good an opportunity to pass up. Jim Schwartz and co. are praying to whoever they pray to, each and every day, that they get Asomugha.

Hate to burst your bubble bro, but Detroit won't make the playoffs with or without Nnamdi. They don't have the quarterback to get the job done. I can guarantee Nnamdi won't even play for Detroit. There are going to be a lot of teams throwing a lot of money at him, and there's no chance he picks Detroit.

But if you're talking about making the playoffs usually you'll have to come in higher than 3rd in your division (I know you can make it in as a 6th seed but the chances aren't high). The chances of knocking off the Bears as a opposed to the Ravens or Steelers for 2nd place in your division, trying to earn a wildcard spot, are more likely. The Browns and Lions won't be winning either of their divisions so let's not go there.

I hate to say it, but this team does not need Matt Stafford to win games. Shaun Hill and Stanton proved they were capable of winning games. With or without Nnamdi this team should win 7-10 games this year. We started to figure out how to win close games at the end of last season.

I remember back in the day, MM was chock full of Lions fans an no one ever talked shit to them.

Detroit is definitely on the right path and Asomugha would help that secondary quite a bit.
