He's been asked to do a lot more than he was capable of the past few years.

this trade was pure salary i think, so if they waive Bowen and let him walk I don't see much of a problem. The Bucks are a young team, playing Bowen stunts development for Joe Alexander.

Its a good trade for both teams. The Bucks get some backup big men that they are in desperate need for and a veteran defender who can hopefully lead them to the playoffs. It shifts them from focusing on getting a backup center like Mullens or Blair into getting a PG that they need a a draft loaded with talent at the Point. The Spurs get a solid scoring option that can help if/when Duncan and Manu start showing their true ages.

Bowen and Oberto are both most likely going to be bought out and resign with the Spurs.

The Spurs did a wonderful job at adding another role player to fit around the big 3. Jefferson may not be what he used to be... but he can still hit open shots and play some defense. I don't see how anyone can really argue this, the Spurs can afford him and they want to win a title right now while they still have all their core players together. I applaud them for going for it, frankly I didn't consider them a top team going into next season unless they added some depth and talent. With this trade that is exactly what they did.

With the Bucks, its simple this is for salary reasons. They needed to shed some salary to afford signing there young players (Charlie V and Sessions). Richard Jefferson really wasn't a fit in Milwaukee anyways. He just settles for too many mid range jump shots, he really isn't the type of player who can take over games and be that franchise player for the Bucks.

He was rumored to go at the trade deadline, no one should really be caught off guard with this one.

RJ can still put up a solid 13-15/4/2 a night for them. Not to mention he can actually get out and run a bit.

Listen being a Nets fan and seeing RJ become the #1 option when VC was out, it really wasn't a good thing. He's at best a #2 option when he was in NJ. Now coming to the Spurs, he won't be asked to shoulder the offensive load and that will work wonders for RJ.

Especially with TD's passing ability in the post, RJ will get good looks cutting to the hole. Also with Manu and Parker, he'll be asked to play more defense, which was his calling card before he developed a respectable offensive game.

No question RJ can get you 20 a night, especially on this Spurs team with the pieces around him. Right now he won't have to...this is a great fit for the Spurs.

How can you say he sucked? He averaged 19.6 last season. He's going to rejuvenate the Spurs.

I see the Spurs as the 2nd best Western Conference team now, Timmy's knees and Manu's ankle permitting.

The Spurs just desperately need a big body now to fill the hole they've made by sending out two bigs.

Cant believe people are hating on Jefferson, lol. He didnt have a terrible season, it wasnt spectacular, but he still gets the job done from the 3 on both ends of the court. RJ is a hard worker too, which is important to a team like the Spurs.

yup good move, RJ will bring a spark to the spurs and bring some athleticism to the team, also take some pressure off of manu ginobili, and keep him fresh going into the playoffs.

i dont know how that is funny, when a year ago the spurs went to the WCF finals and lost to the lakers in 6, and now they have RJ who is really athletic which would help playing the lakers and the possibility of getting sheed.

RJ is not the athlete he was in his twenties, he is easily an improvement over Bruce Bowen at small forward, and he'll definitely add another scoring threat, but his athleticism is not nearly as much of a factor as it used to be.

he still has good athleticism...only reason it declined was because of the few ankle injuries he sustained earlier in his career and of course father time but u can say that for any 29 year old...weak arguement.
