Rubio to stay in Spain?

Ricky Rubio's father gave an interview after the draft stating that his son is now likely to stay in Europe for one or two years, rather than signing in Minnesota.

Yahoo! reports that a trade between the Knicks and Wolves to send Rubio to New York is likely. But later reports suggest that the Wolves are so far stating that they'll retain their rights to the Spanish point guard.

There is no way that he stays in Spain. Then why the hell was he in this years NBA Draft. That is stupid especially if you're a lottery pick. If you're a player picked 1-14 then the team that drafts you is counting on you to have some kind of positive impact on the team the following year. If he does stay in Spain, the Wolves got f*cked for the next year or two.

LOL @ you for thinking players care about the team. If a player doesn't want to play for that team, then he won't play for them. Rubio is just smart however to have a backup incase a team he doesn't want to play for picks him. Look at steve francis, he didn't want to play for vancouver and he never suited up for a game for them, same thing here. If rubio doesn't want to play for the t'wolves then that = not giving a fuck about the team.

And the reason he entered the Draft is because there was/is a chance he might go to a team in a big market like LA or NY.

I agree. He is the first player ever drafted that was born in the 1900's. I think the smart move would be to let him got to Europe for two years and develope more. I don't think he is NBA ready and really don't know why this guy was getting so much attention for the draft. I would keep him in there 2 years and then bring him back

Rubio doesn't want to be a back up, and to be honest as much as I don't like the guy you can't fault him for considering every aspect of his future.

The GM already came out and said he wants both of the guys to start. For a raw 19 year old who hasnt proven shit to be handed a starting job WHILE the team drafts another PG whos more ready than him.. Rubio should be flattered. A Wolves spokesman said there’s “no conspiracy here” and said Rubio’s agent, Dan Fegan, decided not to have his client come to town because of the uncertainty over Rubio’s unresolved contract buyout with his Spanish team.
