Should I Get One?

My XBox is under warranty and just failed, but I'm sick of the Microsoft's shitty console. I was thinking about buying a blue ray player, but why would I do that when I could get a PS3? What are your pros/cons with the system?

Just wait a bit for the $299 PS3 to be available in your area (i think its supposed to be sept. 1) and pick it up then.

In terms of pros/cons well prepare for another useless thread of why the xbox/ps3 sucks.

one big thing is the amount of people playing online games for the ps3 compared the xbox, there will be alot less.

A pro is mlb the show, best video game just for playstation.

Berowsk my main Pros with the ps3 are reliability and noise. First time i played 360 i thought the thing sounded like a jet engine, ps3 is pretty darn quiet. I have a launch ps3 that ive had zero problems with.

Cons might be less people you know with a ps3, but hey make new friends.

and you have free online play, plus The net from the console.

I haven't had any complaints so far with mine.. I mean I don't use the blu-ray and I'm not a real big gamer but it gets the job done for me. Had it for 3 years now without any problems *knock on wood*

My PS3 makes alot of noise wtf are you guys talking about? I ALWAYS have my fan going off everytime I get on a game it's fucking weird. I don't know how many people play online on 360 I'm guessing alot from what was said here but I never really noticed how many people played PS3 online I always had someone to play with whenever I play a game. It's easy to get into matches in any game also. I have had problems with mine with it breaking down twice in a year and a half. I had my hard-drive corrupt where I just kept hitting x to for it to fix my hard-drive and it didn't work and I had my disk drive break. I have never played an Xbox 360 and prolly never will because I have to pay to play online. I really don't have alot to hate about it. I like my PS3 but alot of the games that are PS3 only that come out I hate them. I hated killzone I thought LBP was ok I don't like baseball so I didn't buy the show. The only PS3 exclusive i'm looking forward to is MAG. But anyway waiting for the price drop is the way to go. Get one dudet so we can get in a chatroom and you can see me on my PS3 eye-cam bitch!

I'm about to sell my modded 360 on Craiglist for like 300 with the wireless adapter and the flashed games..

Pre-order a slim for $299...comes with a bigger hard drive for the same price (120 instead of 80).....the look isn't bad, unless you love the shiny look it has now.

OR

I'm guessing when people say wait for the price drop.....the 80 gig is going to go down in price as well. If so, wait till late Aug and get it at a store that does price match within 30 days......slim (from my understanding) is coming out in September (expect for price drop of 80).

The PS3 is $299 now. The Slim will be available 09/01.

Positives? It's durable, free online, bluray, plenty of great games. It's a no brainer in my opinion. I still enjoy my 360 immensely but if I could only have one console it would be PS3 hands down. And now that the price is $299, it goes without saying.

Edit: Oh yeah, how could I forget BUILT IN WI-FI?

It is? It works great for me. Plus I get a 100% connection strength and my PS3 is in my basement and my router is on the next floor in my office.

Its slow from what I've played with. I personally don't game on anything wireless and I'm running wireless N on some stuff.

I think that's a big myth. I always hear guys saying you should hardline it for online gaming... but if you've got a 100% connection wireless, then I don't see what the problem could be... any interference and you wouldn't have 100%. I've tried switching to a cable myself just to see, but I've never noticed a difference and would have to blame those "slow" times on my high speed DSL and peak usage periods.

IMO it's your ISP that you need to worry about... nothing else.

You need to go learn about Wireless a little bit.

These days G is enough for most people. Even though the throughput is lower than my ISP can deliver its still does a good 7 to 14 Mbps which generally is pretty good. My problem is at any given time there could be 3 to 6 computers running and bandwidth starts to go. Especially on wireless. Once you get down to only 1 to 3Mb available it can get a little laggy.

Quick side note I'll be fixing this fairly soon once I finish some upgrades to my network in a few months. I'm looking at throwing another 2 or 3 computers in here at the house by christmas so I have to basically separate my network. I'm also looking at getting a PS3 soon to so its just more bandwidth being eaten up. My ISP is offering a 50meg service now but at $150 a month I'm going to wait.
