So, Joe Flacco

If you are the Ravens, what do you do with Flacco? He was an early season MVP candidate, but has not performed very well recently. Some were predicting a huge contract extension for him, but I just can't see it.

Flacco: 2,850 yards, 14 TDs, 7 INTs, 60.2 completion percentage, 87 QB rating.

Flacco's QB rating puts him 14th overall in the NFL. He ranks 21st in his completion percentage, tied for 17th in TDs and is just outside the top 10 as far as yardage goes.

In my mind, the Ravens would be better off moving around the draft to try and pick their QB of the future, and keeping Flacco with the franchise tag for another year or so. He's a damn good game manager but is not worth top 5 or even top 10 money at the position long-term.

You give him top ten money or whatever the market values him at. He's not worth top ten money, but you have to give it to him. While Flacco isn't a great QB, he is good enough to win you a Superbowl. You can't let Flacco go and take a risk on an unproven guy.

They might be able to get him for a lower price because of his recent play. I think he still has the potential to be elite, he's definitely not there now though.

Flacco will never be better than he is now. That is a promise. He's in his 5th year in the league. Does anyone think by maybe year 7 or 8 he'll finally reach elite status...?

Anyways they can't let him go. Do they really want to go back to the Kyle Bollers of the world? While I really dislike Flacco they can't let him go. I expect contract negotiations to be rough but eventually they will get done.

Agreed. At this point Flacco is who he is going to be, which is a second tier QB. He has his moments of being good and he has his moments of being below average. I don't think he'll ever be the type of guy that can consistently carry the team, but he doesn't have to be either. I fully expect him to get a contract, because at this point the Ravens could do much worse.

Still don't think the Ravens can be done with Flacco. Like others in this thread have said, I think they can still win a Super Bowl with him at the helm. He still needs to get more consistent and stop having these shit games, but if Lee Evans isnt a bum he is playing in the Super Bowl last season.

Ravens fans have really turned on Flacco in a way I've never seen over the past four years, after the loss Sunday. Not sure why losing by 3 points to your rival in a series that almost always ends in 3 point games sends you over the edge on him, but whatever. I still believe in him at this point, but the lack of consistency is alarming since he's almost done his 5th year.

The general consensus seems to be that the Ravens should franchise him, fire Cameron at the end of the year, see how he plays under a legitimate offensive coordinator, and make the decision next year. This is the approach I'd want them to take. I have no idea what they are going to do, I think that's why he hasn't been extended yet, I don't think the team knows either. My feeling and the feeling of those in the know is that they view him as a good, above average QB but he of course wants top tier money, so that's where the issue is.

As far as the fans turning, it's two words: Charlie Batch. If this was Big Ben winning the game, there would not have been nearly as much uproar about it.

What you said is what I would do. I'd definitely franchise him, and see what happens next season, as I am sure a new OC will be in the mix.
