It wasn't a bad call, definitely one of those razor close judgment calls, but Daley falling on his own isn't a reason to stop the fight. The only reason he fell on his own was because he was rocked, but being in the clinch helped him keep his balance, once Diaz pushed him off he fell. So, that's no different from the two times Daley dropped Diaz, landed clean punches, but Diaz was afforded the time to recover.

same with me, but I feel like guys need a chance, I hate early stoppages, it robs the fighter of something that they wont ever get back

Daley should have taken at least a real clean shot before the stop or made it out of the round

As far as the draw, I had no problem with it based on 10 point must. I gave Jardine round 1, so I had it a draw, even though Mousasi clearly dominated the fight as a whole. Japan scoring, obviously Mousasi wins.

now that I think about it, it's even worse for Daley they stopped it early if he could have recovered, the guys was basically fighting for his 'mainstream' career, who knows, with the Zuffa goofballs running the show they might just cut Daley, Dana was 'routing' for Nick before the fight also

Jardine was freaking acting and got a point taken from Mousasi, that should had been a warning which it was going to be until Keith tricked the ref, he didnt even clip him with his heel

Meltzer says they intend to book a Mousasi/Jardine rematch in the near future.

Daley was on weak legs the entire fight and was still hanging in there. To talk about him getting on the stool is irrelevant because it has nothing to do with stopping the fight. Let's see how Brock would have looked getting on a stool right after Shane dropped him. It doesn't matter does it? The only thing that matters is whether or not he was out and was he defending himself. Those are the only two factors that should be in this debate, because it's the only two things that play into stopping a fight.

Who knows how he would have been with more time. Besides that we've seen guys helped to the stool between rounds and continue to fight.

Seems these stoppages and the reactions always favor the star.

To be fair to Daley there was only a few seconds left in the round.. but I still didnt have any problem with the stoppage, Daley was toast.

Diaz also got robbed out of another classic KO, he would have put Daley out in round 2, but I think Daley deserved that chance, his left hook is the best in the business

That's why you see fighters like Brock get every chance in the world to recover, meanwhile people Dana doesn't like don't get the same treatment. It's an indirect, but effective way of influencing the refs. He doesn't have to say anything to them because no one wants to be the guy to call the fight early for one of his stars and get ripped to shreds by Dana in the media. On the other hand, make a quick call on a fighter who's not a company guy and it's not an issue, the pressure isn't there to effect their decision making.

sidenote: this is why the gracies starting asking for special rules where the fighter or there corner could only stop the fight, unlimited rounds, etc... didnt want refs and judges getting involved, the gracie want real fights, the fight game is shady

This I agree with 150%, different fighters get different treatment in terms of stoppages and the like. And its not just out of respect for a vet, or knowing a guy can take a lot of punishment (like refs have given to Nog or Randy in the past), but because they are the big names that im SURE the refs have been "influenced" to give more of a chance to recover.

Champions and big stars do get more benefit of the doubt, of course. And actually, they should, but I won get into that.

But the idea Dana White hs any control over these refs or judges is ridiculous, and not even worthy of debate. These guys dont are what Dana has to say, he rips Steve Mazzagati to shreds all the time and Mazzagati tells people he could give two shits and just does his job.

Daley was done, finished, and loppy as fuck. He didn't "deserve" anthing, he was out. And this is coming from a guy who HATES Diaz and roots hard against him.
