I made a thread on the UG about round 1, same stuff I put here, over 400 views, a couple people posted on it agreeing, not 1 person yet has said Werdum won round 1

there were no real winners in that fight.

The ref should have warned and could have deducted a point for werdum not getting up, he kept taking more and more time, than faked an injury to get up slower

This is exactly how I feel. I don't know what is in the rule book,but the referee should of taken some liberal use of it by warning and deducting a point.

I've yet to see an argument that tells me what Overeem did to win that round. Instead, the only argument I've seen regards what Werdum didn't do. Which is valid, Werdum could have done a lot more. But, he still did more & performed better than Overeem did in that first round.

Agree completely.

Werdum did almost nothing in round one, but Overeem did absolutely nothing.

Werdum lost because of the flopping, and because Overeem looked physically dominant with the throw downs and what not. As i've said a million times, technically, he scored more and should have won 29-28. Werdum was punished in the scoring for butt scoots and pulling guard.

Overeem landed more power shots, all the takedowns, stopped every takedown, and had the knockdowns, overeem won the round, it's not even up for debate

If you think werdum won round one you don't know what you're watching, please watch it again, no way you still think that

Werdum didn't do much either, but he landed more clean strikes, more significant strikes as the stats show, and he controlled the fight. That's the type of round Werdum wanted and exactly what Overeem did not want. That fact alone tells the story. For the most part he even had Overeem backing up.

I can't give someone a round just for throwing power punches and head hunting. If that's the case Nick Diaz would be in a world of trouble.

Overeem landed the only power shots, not sure what these 'significant' strikes werdum landed were, some of overeems shots resulted in knockdowns which count, the majority of the round was contested of werdum shooting/flopping, overeem clearly won that portion also, it was a dominate round for overeem, the ref should have warned for timidity and could have taken a point

Werdum flopped/was slammed/dropped like 14 times (maybe more), almost 3 times a minute!

I'm done with the first round arguement actually, no way anyone who knows what they're watching would score that for Werdum, so I don't see the point of it anymore, for the guys who thought Werdum won round 1 maybe watch amatuer boxing because pro fighting isn't for you
