So although Eagles fans still cheer, “Go Philly”, in any given season it’s likely that most of the team is not from Philadelphia (or even Pennsylvania). Can they really be your hometown team? I don't think so!

The players live in those cities and contribute to those communities. Russell Wilson might not be from Seattle, but I bet all Seattleites now consider him one of their own and I bet he wouldn't disagree with him. Players become part of that city's history even if they weren't born there. I can live in a place, love the people/culture/etc there, and consider it one of my homes. The term 'home' doesn't exist as a static location. It's a feeling of comfort, love, familiarity yadda yadda yadda. So yes, they are still a hometown team whether or not zero players on that team are from that town.
