Very strange game...but entertaining nonetheless. I think the Niners were the more talented team, and it was only a matter of time before they started asserting themselves against Baltimore. Maybe the power outage was the catalyst, but the Ravens had plenty of time to "regroup" after the initial Niner score.
The 3 play calls by Jim Harbaugh on the 2nd-4th and goal plays were probably what cost SF the game. The Ravens couldn't really stop the read option at that point, and the Niners O-line was dominating. I thought three running plays would have gotten the necessary 5 yards. IMO, the rollouts were pretty stupid, because they eliminated half the field that Baltimore needed to defend, and Kaepernick was getting open run lanes from being in the pocket.
Much like the Ravens SB win over the Giants many years ago, when this SB ended I had a bad taste in my mouth. I think WWF refs would have been more effective than the all-star crew they had at the Super Bowl. Lots of extra-curricular stuff. I do give the officials credit for not allowing the Ravens O-line to line up in the flying wedge formation they had been using throughout the postseason.
Its interesting to me hearing some of the "talking heads" discuss the PI non-call at the end of the game, as if it were no big deal. Village idiot Herm Edwards said the non-call was correct because 'they weren't calling it all game'. Not really on board with the logic of "its ok to blow a call since you were blowing calls all game". I thought it was a shame that the SB had to end that way, because the PI eliminated any opportunity Crabtree had to make a play on the ball. Instead of having one of the great moments in NFL history with Crabtree making a difficult catch to cap the greatest comeback in title game history, we get the Ravens blitzing and grabbing the WRs so they have no chance to catch the ball. Not exactly Alcoa presents Fantastic Finishes material.
