It wasn't a hold, cause by rule a "hold" is when a pass isn't in the air. They were within the 5 yard mark. The pass was in the air within 2 seconds of the play being called.

If anything it would have to be called as a Pass Interference. And I don't think the ball was even catchable to begin with unless Crabtree makes a crazy athletic play which woulda been unlikely.


Another thing I've noticed about this game...is it seems Patriots fans are more upset about the Ravens winning the SB than Pats losing the SB last year. From this site, to friends, to my family up in New England area. It's crazy.

You sir, are stupid. You can't go towards the head/shoulder area of a defenseless receiver. Doesn't matter if you lead with your shoulder. He speared him in the face regardless.

The rule is this:

(a) Players in a defenseless posture are: [. . .]
(2) A receiver attempting to catch a pass; or who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a runner. If the receiver/runner is capable of avoiding or warding off the impending contact of an opponent, he is no longer a defenseless player;

(b) Prohibited contact against a player who is in a defenseless posture is:
(1) Forcibly hitting the defenseless player’s head or neck area with the helmet, facemask, forearm, or shoulder, regardless of whether the defensive player also uses his arms to tackle the defenseless player by encircling or grasping him; and
(2) Lowering the head and making forcible contact with the top/crown or forehead/”hairline” parts of the helmet against any part of the defenseless player’s body.”
