Kessler/Ward is the most interesting fight of the first stage, I think everyone knew even if they didnt pick them to win that Taylor was going to fade late and lose to AA and Froch was going to win by a decision no matter what the fight looked like, lol, but Kessler/Ward is the best match up

Kessler is the favorite and if Ward beats him I think Ward is the favorite to win it all, he has the talent to do it, if Kessler wins than it still is him and probably Abraham in the finals

Abraham can be had though by a technical boxer with speed and a chin, AA will give you 4 to 5 rounds to start the fight, that might be his downfall

I dont think Froch can win it, Abraham is going to KO him in there fight in the 3rd stage and Kessler should also beat him in the 2nd stage

Would love to see Miranda in the mix just for the excitement factor and he always puts it on the line

i think the consensus across most of the world is Dirrell beat Froch... and that point deduction was garbage, at best for Froch that was a draw because of the deduction.... as i said earlier i thought Dirrell dominated most of that fight, he landed cleaner shots and dictated when they had exchanges..... not sure he can fight against AA like he did agaisnt Froch and not get knocked out though.... AA's defense is very good borderline superb and he is ridculously strong and faster than Froch... a bad combo for Dirrell but Dirrell is quicker, and much slicker than Taylor and if he can pile up some rounds earlier, he could get a decision....

FWIW, Dan Rafael at ESPN thinks Dirrell lost, and ripped him pretty hard in his blog...

Dirrell also fought in his normal negative, agonizing style. He ran, he cried to the referee about just about everything and he held. And grabbed. And wrestled. At times, it was like watching a smaller, faster, more skilled version of John Ruiz. It was ugly. When Dirrell, who has all the talent in the world but still fights like an amateur, would stand and fight, he landed some nice counter right hands. But he didn't do it nearly enough. The first half of the fight was an abomination because of Dirrell's unwillingness to do anything but run and grab. All the while, Froch was making the fight, coming forward and firing in what degenerated into a somewhat dirty fight. But in the eighth round, Froch nailed Dirrell with a left hook late in the round that definitely rattled him. Both fighters fouled each other often with low blows, elbows, blows to the back of the head and punches on the break. Referee Hector Afu did his best, but had a very hard time maintaining control. Both guys could have had points deducted at various times but Afu did not pull the trigger until finally docking a point from Dirrell for holding and hitting in the 10th round, during which Dirrell hurt Froch with two hard left hands. In the end, two judges gave it to Froch, which was the right call. How can you give Dirrell the fight when, for the most part, he fought scared, complained to the referee about everything and barely threw any punches in the first half or two-thirds of the fight? He finished very strong, but it wasn't enough to warrant or deserve the decision.

I wasnt scoring the fight, and had no rooting interest. I enjoyed it, though. It was fun to watch.

It dosen't really matter whether its Miranda or Green in his place, because whoever it is they will have zero points with only two fights left, and both would be heavy underdogs against anyone else in the field.

I was proud of the wife, she watched the Froch/Dirrell fight, I showed here the back story and the pre hype stuff, etc...thats what she likes, she also likes watching the people in the audience, so Frochs girl and mom were yelling the entire fight so that kept her interested, lol

She was pulling for Dirrell, on the edge of here seat in the 11th and 12th, she was mad he got jobbed and all dissappointed

my wife likes boxing, she just hates that most fights don't start until late. its nice when i get her watchign 24/7 it makes it easier for me to buy the fight when she has big interest in watching the fight

Dirrell is not going to be able to handle Abraham's power so I can easily see him getting his second KO of the tourney. The closest anyone has come to beating Abraham was probably Miranda and he did that by being aggressive and darn near putting Abraham's jaw in the front row. I just don't think Dirrell has that type of grit.

Dirrell has some serious skill but he doesn't have the power to stay with Abraham for 12 rounds because he will slow down toward the end of the fight and get caught.

Froch was able to hit Dirrell with a few good shots here and there and Abraham is more accurate and much more powerful than Froch, not to mention much more disciplined and fundamental.

I just don't see how guys like Taylor and Dirrell can go 12 rounds with heavy hitters like Abraham because they will slow down and get cut off during the latter rounds and be forced to stand and trade some. The only way Dirrell can beat Abraham is by keeping his distance and constantly moving. Froch was able to cut the ring off and get Dirrell on the ropes time and time again (especially toward the end of the fight) and Dirrell really struggled when he wasn't in the center of the ring. Dirrell will win the first 4 rounds vs. Abe (if he doesn't get knocked out by then) and after that it's just going to be a cat and mouse game and a matter of time before Abe either knocks him out or doesn't and loses by decision.

Unfortunately, I have only seen Ward fight a full fight once so I'm not too familiar with him. I know that he is fast but how is his power and chin compared to the rest of these guys? Seems like a lot of people are giving him a good chance against Kessler which is surprising because I have seen Kessler and he was extremely impressive.

Taylor's defense is terrible.... he leaves his left hand down by his weight 90 percent of the times and eats jabs with his face, when he does try to defend the jab he loses sight of punches and ends up taking a hospital visit.....

You're right, his defence has never been good. He has every offensive tool you could want a great boxer to have though and he has good speed. I probably give him too much credit since he was able to beat B-Hop.

I did mention Taylor's stamina issues, which denied him from cruising to a UD over Froch. The same Carl Froch who Dirrell couldn't do enough against to get a decision (I thought he won, but it was clearly too close for the judges to go against the hometown fighter). But I agree that Taylor never really troubled Abraham, especially not with the judging in Germany.

nflman I was only pointing out that I liked Jermain Taylor as a boxer and that Margarito was higher in the rankings than Cotto. I'm glad this made you laugh though, much in the same way that bright colours make down syndrome "people" giggle in that strange, deformed way they do.
