Terrell Suggs blasts Patriots and Belichick

Bill Belichick is known for his surly disposition on those rare occasions when the Patriots lose. A lot was made of the coach not shaking Tom Coughlin's hand after the 2007 Super Bowl when the undefeated Pats lost to the upstart Giants. And now, nearly five years later, Belichick has again finds himself the subject of criticism for refusing to do a postgame interview with CBS following Sunday's 28-13 loss to the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.

This development did not sit well with The NFL Today's Shannon Sharpe.

“There's something to be said about being gracious in defeat,” Sharpe said. “We've seen the New England Patriots five times in the last 12 years be victorious. And we've seen the opposing coaches that lost come out and talk to our Steve Tasker. Coach (Bill) Cowher did it when [the Steelers] lost to them. We saw this last week [when the Patriots beat the Texans]."

Sharpe wasn't alone in feeling this way, though he was a tad more diplomatic than Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs,who was wholly unimpressed with the Patriots and their coach.

After the game, Belichick was typically laconic when he met with reporters.

"That was a disappointing end to a overall pretty positive season," he said. "Tonight we just didn't do enough things to well enough to win. Give the Ravens credit, they're a good football team, they just outplayed us and outcoached us tonight. They just made more plays than we did and that's pretty much the story."

Earlier this year Belicheat couldn't believe he lost on a close FG that went OVER the bar, that he chased down a ref and snatched him up. It's not a secret that the Patriots are sore losers, they've always been that way and they will remain that way.

Only thing I find surprising is that Robert Kraft seems like a great owner and he is nothing but humble when his team loses. You'd think that would trickle down.

BB, or any head coach, wanting a word with an official when a FG goes over the bar by maybe 10% of the ball at best, is not poor sportsmanship. I'd expect any coach to want a word about it considering the value of the result and the doubt that it even was good.

What's amusing is how Ravens fans are calling NE poor sports, but what is this thread about again? Suggs being a good one? Oh, I must have read the OP wrong then.

I get it, it's shit on the losing team day and the Patriots have pissed off everyone by winning a fuck ton of games over the last decade, so it's even sweeter to shit on em. No different than when the Yankees/Red Sox/Red Wings/Man United/etc, lose, it's always fun to kick the big dog when they are down. But perspective might be wise to consider about who exactly is a good sport in the NFL.

I don't think being a good sport when losing a game of this kind of magnitude is a good thing. He didn't go overboard and insult the other team like Suggs decided too. do you have any critical thinking skills? He congratulated Harbaugh after the game and then left and didnt want to talk to media. Nothing wrong with any of that at all. Obviously Sharpe spoke too soon if he didnt see them on the field after the game.

you will appear arrogant when you constantly are one of the last 4 AFC teams standing every year. Belichick just doesnt handle being on camera well.

At least he did the NFL films " A Football Life" thing. The guy coaches football and gets along with his players. Nothing more is needed

Cuz everygame I've seen us ever play the Patriots they've been close and come down to the last drive. Even the ones with Kyle Boller, when we were shitty and Bart Scott was throwing flags into the crowd.

Harbaugh and Belichick have a good relationship. Harbaugh respects Belichick and the Patriots a great deal and rightfully so.

LOL Is this serious? Ever see Pats player or Belichick, taunting your team before and after every game? Nope never, but your team of thugs have been total assholes before and after every game for the last 3 years. I was at the playoff game 2 years ago and watched your entire team stand on the sidelines giving the fans the finger,that's real classy. You see Brady saying good things about your team before this game? Because I remember one of your thugs tweeting a bunch of BS about the Pats offense.

You watch Belichick talk and congratulate Harbaugh for quite a long time after the game or you going to ignore that. He doesn't talk to barely speaks English Sharpe and this thread comes to be.
