The Best Team in the NFC?

After watching the Packers destroy the best team in the league on the road and not losing since, I'm going to have to go with the Packers. Realizing they have some injury and defense issues but they have been down this road before.

I understand the context of the thread is after the first few weeks of the regular season, but down the stretch and come playoff time I've seen this Giants team just turn it up too many times. When the game is close and the Giants need a score I NEVER doubt Eli Manning.

Falcons - nice story, but I need to see them down the stretch before I annoint them
Bears - Bears offensive line < Giants, 49ers defensive line = Cutler gets killed....Bears have a nice defense though
49ers - Do we trust Alex Smith against the 49ers or Giants defense? Can they score enough points to win?
Packers - Aaron Roders can carry them, but they have no defense
Vikings - shoutout to my boy Percy Harvin....VA Beach represent!!

It's tough to anoint anyone right now.

The Falcons have made sure they've won every week yet they haven't had to go against a real good team. The Bears lost their only statement game but look like a dominant defence being backed up by a balanced, potentially high power offence. Packers got their big scalp, have been winning lately but have lost enough games to create some doubt. Vikings shouldn't be on the list they are toast. The Giants seem liable to give up 30 points a game these days. The 49ers: stout and tough to stop, but have shown enough vulnerability at quarterback that I'm struggling to get on board.

Hopefully we can see these issues settled with games later in the season ... SFvCHI, NYGvsGB, NYG@ATL, NYG@BAL, GB@CHI

Ultimately I think the Bears are the team with another level to go to out of all of them. I suspect they'll win the NFC North and would be my favourite to represent the Conference in the Superbowl.

I hear ya but there aren't many "real good teams" out there. Atlanta has faced a couple teams already who in the offseason thought they were going to be good but aren't.

I don't know how someone can argue that Atlanta beat bad teams so they can't be the best, New York LOST to Philly, who looks terrible even when they win. And at home to a Dallas team that can't hold on to the ball. Hell Atlanta just blew out that Philly team that new York couldn't score on.

None of the matchups really matter. A team can lose to a team and still actually be better. Also, with the NFC East you can not judge it like that, because their divisional games are always close......regardless of who is playing.

The giants just haven't looked consistently impressive to me. As good as Eli has been at the end of games he's been as bad at the start.

With the Giants I am at the point where once they get into the playoffs they turn it up, so I'm not too concerned with how they look early in the season.

A strong case can be made for many teams...For me it's hard to put the 49ers at 1 because I still don't trust Alex Smith. He had two awful games before facing that porous Cardinals defense last night. The Giants are strong again as well but eventually Eli putting them into a hole and having to make a miraculous comeback in the 4th will come back to bite them. Hard to argue what the Falcons have done going undefeated but I still question if they have a strong enough run game to translate into post-season success if Matty Ice is having a bad game.

I'm going to go with the Bears as the best team as of now. That defense is incredible, and I think the offense still has room to improve to take them to the next level.

I'm not getting how people are unimpressed with Atlanta but are so impressed with the Giants. They've been sloppy the last 2 weeks, getting butt raped by RGIII and pulling a win out their ass then almost letting the Cowboys almost win an epic comeback.

Includes two teams that are 1-6 and bottom in their division and they've had close scoring games against opponents they shouldn't of struggled against. Frankly their fans have the tampa bay syndrome from a couple years ago. Seeing a really good record against bad teams and over rating their team.

you can't be as hard on the Giants about losing to the Eagles. that is a division game and it will ALWAYS be a tough match for both teams since they play each other so many times and know each other so well. regardless of how good each team is playing it can be any ones game.

Who's overrating them? They have flaws just like every other NFL team. As far as playing the 1-6 teams..It's not like the Falcons played the Chiefs week 5 or something. They played in the season opener, away. Remember Arrowhead is supposed to be a tough place to play? Carolina is a divisional opponent, I was not surprised that game was close. If I remember correctly, the oh so elite Bears almost loss to them Sunday as well. They overlooked Oakland and Wasington and it showed, sloppy game all around.. It's not other NFL teams aren't having those. Throwing opponents total records out there is a lame argument.

7-0 against NFL teams. It's not like they're lining up against Pop Warner Champs 2012.

But the NFL is all about who gets hot late. And fortunately for Atlanta, they aren't even really hot right now, so they still have a chance to catch fire later in the season.

Every team looks beatable, so I'm going with the only one who hasn't lost in any of the games they've looked the most vulnerable.
