The Best Team in the NFC?

To me, the Bears are the best team in the NFC right now. That defense is incredible and forces turnovers at a record breaking rate. The offense hasn't been as good as they can be yet, but they showed a lot at the end of the game against Carolina last week. If the offense can start clicking like that as the season goes on, they will be a tough team to knock out when the playoffs come around.

Then again, it's tough to determine who the best teams are at this point in the year. The two years have proved to us that the hottest team at the end of the year tends to do the best in the playoffs. I'll wait until week 17 to make my prediction on who will come out of the NFC.

Ok, so since we're now in agreement that one head-to-head matchup isn't a definitive ruler for determining a better team, then I'll keep going.

1. The Giants have looked decidedly unimpressive in four of their six wins. Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Washington, and Dallas. The 49ers beat two 2011 playoff teams to open the season, and beat the Jets/Bills/Cardinals by a combined score of 103-6.

2. The Giants defense ranks 26th against the pass and 19th against the run. We rank 2nd and 7th.

3. The 49ers are the best run team in the league. The Giants rank 12th.

Those are just some of the reasons.

Honestly, I think the Giants , Bears and Atlanta have been more consistant.

The giants just haven't looked consistently impressive to me. As good as Eli has been at the end of games he's been as bad at the start.

This is actually why I voted for the giants. They haven't played anywhere close to their potential yet they are 6-2. When they have, they have dominated - see the 49ers game.

I don't care about where these teams rank statistically. Can the giants pass the ball? Yes. Can they run the ball? Yes. Can they stop the run when they need to? Yes. Can they rush the passer? Yes.

Show me another team that can do all of that like the giants can and I won't argue with you. Only other team that comes to mind is the Texans but their passing game isn't as good as the giants.

Best team as a whole? Probably Falcons. But come playoffs, I got my money on Greenbay or the Giants. They know how to win in the playoffs (especially Eli)

They've been dominant when they've wanted to. We're not even halfway through the season. We've seen the Giants turn it up in the second half and in the postseason before. It seems like they kind of pace themselves and when they are focused they dominate.

They are doing it when they want to. I think they've shown that they are the most complete team. Every team has bad games and has looked bad at some point, including the undefeated Falcons.

At this point I'd pick the Giants with the 49ers #2. The Giants always find away to win, especially big games and I don't consider most of them luck wins like I would some of ATL wins
