The console war is over

The only thing I didn't like about my 360 (2nd system since launch) was the constant thought that it might RROD, while playing. This is the main reason I get all of my sport games on PS3, even though some say that it doesn't look as clean as on the 360. I sold my system to my cousin but plan on getting the arcade within a month or two....I hope I don't have to worry about RROD with this one. I do like the PS3 controller, but I always been used to it....didn't own the original Xbox, so never played with a large controller (compared to PS3).

Who doesn't include an HD cable with their console? Last I checked - SONY DOES NOT.

Between last night and this morning I listened to the most recent 1Up and OXM podcasts and both reported that the 360 Elite DOES NOT include any HD cables of any kind. I'll try to dig up an article to confirm or deny.

I also forgot to touch on the fact that MS actually raised the price of the Arcade unit in Europe. I don't think I've ever heard of a console price going up...ever. What the fuck?

The 1Up crew went on for quite a while talking about hoe there are absolutely no legitimate arguments when comparing the 360 to the PS3 now, dollar for dollar.

They did mention a rumor out of Europe of a new 360 model that is supposed to include a 250GB hard drive and a copy of Forza 3 for 280 euros.

Another thing I found interesting was that they talked about the Games on Demand feature on Marketplace. They were talking about how overpriced the games were and Garnett talked about how he talked to Todd Howard from Bethesda. Apparently Mr. Howard wanted to price Oblivion at $20 or cheaper but M$ said "Nope, it's going to be $30" and that was the end of the discussion.

That was another thing the 1Up crew talked about at length. They were talking about the Game Informer article and poll about hoe 54% of those polled had a hardware failure with their 360. They talked about how many of their actual consoles in the office had failed and they said that only two of their six are still going strong.

They also went on to say whaty I and others have been saying for a while. MS knowngly released a problem prone console just to beat Sony to the starting line. And also like I've said, it ended up being the right business decision, even though they have received quite the black eye in the press over the failure rate.

And the worst is that they still charge $100 for the wi-fi adapter which probably costs them $5 to produce, if not less. There was a console war thread and people were debating with him, he couldn't see how not everyone felt the same way he did, so he left SH for good. That shit was weird. Hey, I was one of the people that used to give WM, Burns and DJ shit all the time. Sony made some HORRIBLE decisions early this generation. Not to mention that it seemed like every major game release got delayed.

But they finally seem to be getting their shit together and I don't think there's and question who has the better system now., especially dollar for dollar. Now if MS did come out with a 250GB drive for the Elite then maybe they would be a little more on par with the PS3, but that this point it's laughable.

I love how MS PR tries to spin this in that it gives the consumer "more flexibility'. How much are HDMI cables now on sites like monoprice.com? A few dollars? So they are probably pennies when ordered in mass quantities by a company like MS. Way to fuck the consumer. And the article makes a great point on how if you have to buy the proprietary component cables (HDMI is universal) they cost a whopping $30, not counting the audio adapter. Apparently when they released their press release about their price drop not only did they say that it was in no way related to the PS3 price drop but they also touted the "best warranty in the business". Like they had a choice. They were facing a class action lawsuit.

It's almost as if Sony and MS completely switched roles at this point. I'm pretty sure Sony tried to feed us some bullshit about why no HD cables were included. And when they tried to give us that horsehit about how rumble was not important and that it wasn't possible with the SixAxis. GTFO.

Coupled with the price drop and the way MS is trying to fuck people over left and right with stupid shit, they better be careful.

What cast were you listening to? The one I heard, Garnett said that none of the five people consoles in the room had ever failed. They also talked about how the poll was probably skewed and the numbers were probably closer to 35%, and that number went down after the new heat sinks and chips went into the systems after the first generation.

Yeah, and right after Garnett said that one of the other guys said "I think you're wrong. Only 2 of our original 6 units are still working" and Garnett said "Oh, I guess you're right." Which would be a 66% failure rate in their case. And just prior to that they were talking about their personal consoles which two of the four guys (Garnett and another guy) still had consoles that were fine and the other two are eat least on their second.

Three out of four of them thought the poll was skewed but the one guy said he definitely believes that it's dead on. Then they went into the story about the guy on the internet who posted a blog about how he's on his 9th or 11th.

the one thing about 360 that really bugged me was how unbelievably loud it is. i got one last month thinking maybe the newer models arent as loud. nope. ps3 slim is as quiet as can be but the 360 still sounds like jet engines. petty complaint but still really fucking annoying.

It is loud as shit. I was playing Shadow Complex for like two hours the other day. Then I started noticing this loud buzzing type sound. At first I thought I was having issues with my subwoofer. Then I check and realize it's the fucking 360.

I'm starting to wonder if my fifth is about to break. I turned it on the other day and the screen was in regular def and I didn't have any sound. I turned it off and turned it back on and it was fine. Hopefully it was just a weird glitch but I had never seen that before.

The Giant Bomb guys made a very good point in their last podcast. Of course more consumers are ignorant to MS's marketing ploy. The point is, did they really have a price drop or did they just add 60gb to the 360 hard drive? That's all they really did. They got rid of the Pro SKU that hah a 60gb HDD and just dropped the price of the Elite to the Pro's price. Oh yeah, and you get a black casing...:laugh:
