Eagles will send Sheppard to Jets​

New York and Philadelphia are completing a trade that will send cornerback Lito Sheppard to the Jets while the Eagles will receive a 2009 fifth-round pick and a 2010 conditional draft pick.

The pick could be as high as a second-round choice in 2010 and as a low as a fourth. But the eagles will get two picks and the Jets get Sheppard, who will be in New York Saturday for a physical.

John Clayton is confirming a Miami Herald report that C/G Jason Brown has agreed to terms with the Rams on a five-year contract.

Brown was hoping the Ravens would match the Rams offer, but it's believed that they were $1-2 million per year short. The best interior lineman available, Brown did not visit with any other teams. We'll wait for contract terms before confirming that it's an official signing. Feb. 27 - 8:57 pm et

ESPN.com's Chris Mortensen reports that Albert Haynesworth's deal with the Redskins is effectively for four years, $48 million.

The $100 million figure looks good to his agent's potential clients, but Haynesworth isn't likely to see the last half of the contract. Haynesworth is due a $29 million "poison pill" in salary and bonuses in 2013, his age 32 season. It's possible that the contract will be renegotiated down the road, but the important number for Haynesworth is the $41 million in guarantees

Fox 29 News in Philadelphia is confirming the San Francisco Chronicle report that Brian Dawkins has signed with the Broncos.

Again, we're hesitant to make this official until we see contract terms, but it sounds like a done deal this time. The Eagles now have a need at safety and $40 million burning a hole in their pocket.

The Bengals are reportedly still negotiating in an attempt to re-sign T.J. Houshmanzadeh.

Housh visited Seattle Friday, but no signing is imminent. He listed the Giants, Eagles, Seahawks and Vikings as his favored landing spots, but the Bengals may have a chance to re-enter the derby. The Bears apparently never had interest, the Eagles are reportedly no longer pursuing him, the Giants deem him too expensive, and no other teams are lining up for visits

According to beat writer Matt Maiocco, one league source believes the 49ers have a "legitimate shot" to sign Kurt Warner away from the Cardinals.

Warner's public statements have been at odds with his agent's all along, and the interest in the 49ers doesn't seem to be any different. It may work as a way to get the Cardinals to put more money on the table, but Warner clearly doesn't want to leave Arizona.

Jay Glazer on FSN Radio reported just a few minutes ago on the JT the Brick show that the Dawkins deal is not yet done. Dawkins apparently wants to stay in Philly and negotiations with Philly have reopened. Glazer also reported that the proposed deal with the Broncos was pure speculation at this time and no signing had been agreed to or imminent.

It appears Dawkins wants to give Philly every chance to keep his services around.

Just goes to show you that you shouldnt get excited until an official report comes out. This is the time for many many rumors so make sure to check your sources before you believe the hype.

The report didn't make sense given everything we were hearing with Dawkins.

Everyone pretty much knows of his desire to stay an Eagle, which is why that Broncos report was so shocking.

Wasnt sure how enxt eyar was going to be. they draft the top Olineman in the draft all of sudden they will have a solid line to go alongside their imrpoving Dline. The Detroit Lions have reached a three-year, $7 million deal with free agent RB Maurice Morris, Scout.com has confirmed. Morris has played his entire seven-year career with the Seattle Seahawks and was selected in the second round of the 2002 draft.

Morris will compete for playing time against RB Kevin Smith and has more speed than the younger back.

CBS4 Broncos Insider Vic Lombardi confirms that the Broncos have added two more pieces to the defensive side of the ball. Late Friday, Cleveland Browns Linebacker Andra Davis and Indianapolis Colts Defensive Tackle Darrell Reid inked contracts to help shore up the much-maligned defense. Davis will play Inside Linebacker in the 3-4 defense Head Coach Josh McDaniels will implement. Reid was a Defensive Tackle with the Colts, but he may see some time at linebacker as well.
