Its not like they use a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1

No because Essien lines up at CENTER MIDFEILD In the Formation

You know the center of midfeild

Essien has only ever played Centerback or RB because of injuries .

When they say Essien starts in the middle of midfeild then id class him as a central midfeild player

If Essien starts at centerback because of injuries then he is a centerback for the day

When a guy starts at striker hes a striker .

He may roam to other areas of the feild but if hes listed in a formation that contains 3 strikers and hes down as one of them it kind of makes him one

Maybe not the proto-typical striker but still one none the less

When they use a 4-4-1-1 and he is listed as the Attacker Midfeilder i will call him as such until then , hes a striker to me and every pundit on english tv for that matter

Totti - maybe

Ibra is definitely one of the best strikers of the world. There's a reason Barca wants him and are willing to pay 30 mil plus Eto'o as well. You can even argue that Zlatan is in the top 5.

Its odd to me that you refuse to call Messi a striker, yet you would call Rooney a striker. I think they are both strikers, but if you are going to split hairs than Rooney is much more of an 'attacking midfielder' than Messi.

I think you guys are hung up on the definition of a striker. Do you equate a striker with just being a forward? If that's the case then Messi is a striker.

Personally, I see a striker as different then a forward. Guys like Drogba, Torres, Ibrahimovich are strikers. Guys like Messi and Rooney are more like wingers since they do most of their damage from outside the box.

If you run a 4-3-3 id call all 3 of the strikers , strikers espically when you use it every game of the season

Same with 4-4-2 ... if your one of the 2 i call you a striker and same for 4-5-1

Even if its just for one game or permanant
