New England won 4 games by one possession scores this year. 12-4 record.
Pat fans and apologists love to point out he played 6 quarters with regular footballs. They don't consider the fact that this has probably been going on for a while, softer footballs give you an advantage as far as turnovers go, and those close wins are incredibly important as to playoff seeding. Do they win those close games if they're playing with a regular ball? Do they earn the #1 seed and get homefield advantage throughout the playoffs if they're playing with a regular ball?
I had the same conversation with some peers in person the other day as to whether or not we should look the other way because of rumors that "other teams do this all the time". There's probably a lot of guys juicing too that haven't been caught too, it's irrelevant. New England got caught, and got caught red handed. The text messages are damning, and even if one doesn't want to take those under consideration and they believe this Patriot propaganda that McNally was talking about his weight, the suspension and fines probably have more to do with the Patriots failure to cooperate with the investigation.
Why would Brady refuse to give up his phone? Especially considering Wells informed Brady and his Agent that he wouldn't even personally look at the phone. Brady didn't even have to fear any other illegal activity being found out, because Wells agreed to allow Brady's agent to share messages considered relevant to this particular investigation and even told them he'd take their word that they were being honest in what they shared.
I wonder if Kraft is still holding out hope to receive an apology. I also wonder if there is another Franchise that has the ironic stigma of having a cheating scandal attached to all of their superbowls?
45-7.
